Scaly Mr. and Mrs. W H McJunkin. of Westminister, S. C., spent the first of the week here at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Mc Junkin. Mr. and Mrs. Odell Owens, of Satulah. Ga., were the week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Dryman. Mrs. Roy McJunkin and W. S. McJunkin. of Fort Lauderdale. Fla., are' spending a few days v.ith Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Mc Junkin and family. Mr and Mrs. Arthur DCell, o1 Longview. Wash., are spending a few days in Scaly visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Phillips, ol Athens. Ga., are here as the guests of Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Vinson. The decoration services here Sunday were well attended and many beautiful flowers weie placed upon the graves. The Rev. Frank Miller spent Sunday in Persimmon, Ga., with friends. Mart Ramey, who has been ill for some time, is reported to j be improving. Mr. and Mrs. McGruder, 01' Coral Gables. Cabe, of Franklin, j Route 4, at a hearing before Justice of the Peace C. A. Set ser last Saturday morning, was bound to superior court on a charge of manslaughter, in con nection with the automobile death of Newton Crunkleton. Mr. Cabe was the driver of the automobile which struck and fatally injured Mr. Crunk leton at the Thomas curve, on the Franklin-Highlands road, Wednesday of last week. Bond, fixed at $2,000, was posted. Miss Conley Initiated Into Beta Sigma PSi Miss Audrey Coniey was one of 11 young women initiated in to Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, international sorority, July 19 at the Woman's club in Ral eigh. Miss Conley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Conley, of Franklin, is also a member of Sigma Pi Alpha and Pi Rho Zeta. This is the first visit the Grays have made to their native county in 15 years. Dr. Edgar Angel went by plane to Atlanta, Ga., Monday to see C. S. Burrell, a brother of W. C. Burrell, of Burrell Motor com pany, who is ill at the Grady hospital in Atlanta. \ Mrs. Marietta Stiles Cooper, who suffered a broken hip sev eral weeks ago, is recuperating at her home on West Main street. Mrs. Lee Leach, of Chapel Hill, came up last week for a visit with relatives and friends. Roy G. Beshears returned to his home here Tuesday night, after being called to Huntsvllle, Ala., on account of the critical Illness and death of his father, A. J. Beshears, who died last Saturday. Plan Macon Baptist Sunday School Meet In Franklin Sunday The Macon County Baptist Sunday School convention will ae held at the Franklin Bap tist church on Sunday after noon, July 28, at 2:30 o'clock, it has been announced by San ford Smith, president. The convention will open with a song service, directed by Her bert A. McGlamery, after which the devotional will be given by the Rev. Arvil Swafford. The roll call of the various churches and the minutes of the previous meetings will follow. A discussion on "The Pastor Leading his Teachers in Evan gelism" will be led by Bill Shields, and "The Doctrine of the Bible" will be discussed by Paul Swafford. Cpl. Billy L. Dean It Stationed In Germany WIESBADEN. Germany? Cpl. Billy L Dean, of Franklin, N. C. currently is attached to the Headquarters ol the European Air Transport service here. Continent, Eats operates more than 11,000 miles of military routes linking London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Vienna, and Sophia and almost a score of other key installations. Cpl. Dean, a graduate of Franklin High school, entered the army air corps in March, 1944, and has been in the Euro pean theater since January 1946. He is the son of Mr. anl Mrs. R. B.
