Mrs. John Bulgin, the secre tary, reported on the meeting of the executive committee, and the report was adopted Mrs. Weimar Jones, Mrs. Allen Siler, Mrs. W. E. Hunnicutt, and Mrs. R. S Jones are the dele gates to the district P. T. A. conference to be held In Hazel wood September 24. The program opening with th? singing of "America The Beau tiful", and the Rev. W. Jackson Huneycutt. after conducting the devotional, spoke briefly on the Importance of the right atti tude toward the school, em phazing the idea that the teach er's role is far more important than buildings and facilities. Following the business and program, a social hour was en joyed. during which the hos nitality committee served re freshments from an artistically decorated tea table. The next meeting will be held Monday, October 31, and the group voted to make the meet ing hour 7:30. Macon Youth Named Assistant County Agent In Buncombe Wayne Franklin, a Macon County boy who was recently discharged from the marine corps after service In the South Pacific, has been aDpointed as sistant farm agent for Bun combe county. Prior to entering the serv ; ice, Mr. Franklin served as as sistant county agent in Haywood county. In his present position I he will be In charge of area demonstration farms sponsored by the state agricultural ex tension service In cooperation with the Tennessee Valley Au thority. Mr. Franklin is the son of Mr and Mrs. Jerry Franklin, of Franklin, Route 4. His wife is the former Miss Alice Dean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Her man Dean, of Franklin. She and her two daughters lived with her parents here while Mr. Franklin was in serv ice.
