by Gordie Conley, Negro, of the
West's Mill community.
The huge tuber came out of
a quarter-acre patch that pro
duced two tons of been;; uuu i
' mat. Conley said he had only
1 about a half stand.
This beet, when young, can
be eaten, and is said to oe Uie
equal in quality, texture, and
flavor of any of the common
red varieties. The sugar bejt, ?
however, is grown chiefly for '
stock feed.
