Methodist Leaders Of This Area Hold Meet In Franklin Dr. Walter B West, district I superintendent, speaking before a group of leaders of Methodist churches west of Waynesville, Tuesday afternoon at the Frank lin Methodist church, outlined the Methodist church, "Crusade for Christ program placing spe cial emphasis on stewardship as it applies to the individual mem ber According to the Rev. W. Jackson Huneycutt, pastor of the Franklin Methodist church, Dr. West defined stewardship for the individual as "dedicat ing one's time and talents to the furthering of Christ's work and teachings." Mrs. E. L. McKee of SylVs gave a talk jon "The Place of the Christian College in Educa tional Progress to-day." Mrs. McKee urged those pres ent to do everything possible to aid their individual churches in carrying out their part in rais ing the fund for educational progress recently pledged by the Methodist church conference. The chief topics, he said, were schools and ujos, most of those who saw him urging better pay for teachers and appropriation of funds for farm-to-market roads. Others discussed with him old-age pensions and taxation, while a number of persons in terested in hunting and fishing conferred with him about legis lation on this subject. A number of persons, he said, made a point of seeing him merely to wish him "good luck." Mr. McGlamery probably will be in Raleigh lor about three months, since most observers agree that the legislative ses sion will continue until the last, of March or early in April. Love, 31 -year old Negro who died January 3 at his home, " Franklin, Route 4, were held at the Bethlehem Baptist church in East Franklin last Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. Shlloh Wllie and the Rev. Charlie Scruggs officiated, and interment was in the Love cem etery, In the Bethel community.
