their return home they were

and a brother, Hoyt Vinson, of
Pontiac. Mich., who also was
visiting in the Marchette ftome.

home for his first visit since

by automobile for about a
month's visit with Mr. Stiles'
sisters, Mrs. Wade Cunningham
and Mrs. Javan Gray, his Droth
er, Thomas Stiles, and rela
tives at Rabun Gap. Oa,, Bre
vard, and other towns in this
region. Mr. Stiles is the son ot
the late Mr. and Mrs. Judson
Stiles. Accompanying them to
Franklin was Harold Stiles, Mr
Stiles' nephew and a son of
Thomas Stiles. Harold Stiles has
been in Washington for the past
six months.

William Reece, seaman second
class, has Returned to his base
at Norfolk, Va., after spending
a 30-day furlough with his par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reece,
of Franklin.
Mr. and Mrs. K. F. Montague
have returned to Franklin to
make their home, after spend
ing the past year in the eastern
part of North Carolina. They
are living at Dixie hall for the
present.
Mrs. Roy R. Cunningham left
Sunday for a two week's visit
with her father, Frank Shields,
in Miami, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert R.
Gaines returned Monday night
from a 10-day vacation trip to
Clearwater and St. Petersburg,
Fla. They report that the fish
ing was excellent.
Miss Lillian Jones, of Green
ville, S. C? and her sister, Miss
Dorothy Jones, of Atlanta,
spent last week-end here with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gil
? mer A. Jones.
Mrs. Fred Slagle, of Franklin,
Route 1, will leave January 17
for Pompano, Fla., where she
will spend two weeks visiting
her brother, Neely Alexander.
Pfc. Howard W. Hastings, son
of Mrs. Reid Bingham, of
Franklin, Route 1, arrived home
Sunday from service in Japan.
He is now on terminal leave.
Entering the army in October,
1945, he received his basic
training at Fort McClellan, Ala.,
and sailed for Japan in March,
1946, as a guard patrolman with
the 21st air service.
J. D. Russell, % who is working
in Pontiac, Mich., spent the hol
idays with his mother, Mrs.
Gordon Gibson, and Mr. Gibson
at their home in the Cullisaja
community.

returned to their home in Birm
ingham, Ala., after spending
several days with Mrs. Willis'
parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B.
Ray at their home on Bidwell

have returned to their home at
Marrietta, Ga., after spending
the holidays with Mrs. Nichols'

Sylva, formerly of Franklin, |

their daughter, Miss Esther
Potts, to Carl Seago, son of Mr.
Claude Parris, of riylva, and of j
the late Lewis Seago, in Clay- ,
ton, G.a., December 15, at noon.
Only a few close friends were
present for the ceremony.
Mrs. Seago, who attended the
I'ranklin High school, Is a grad
uate of the Sylva High school.
Mr. Seago, who spent 17 months
in the armed forces in the Pa
cific, is employed by the Mead
corporation in Sylva, where the
couple will make their home.

WITH QUILTING PARTY
A quilting party was given (or
Mrs. P. E. Bingham at the home
of Mrs. Joe Setser, Franklin,
Route 1, last Friday The affair
lasted all day. Each guest
brought a dish for the dinner.
At the end of the day. a
beautiful quilt was presented to
Mrs. Bingham.
Those attending were Mrs.

Mrs Henry Slagle, Mrs. Fred
