Creek High school in Watauga, attended Winthrop college, at Rock Hill, S C., for a year, and was graduated from Appa lachian Sta'te Teachers college at Boone, where she majored in home economics and science. After two years, as a teacher of home economics and science in Stokes and Ashe counties, she went to Washington, D. C., where she served for a year and a half during the war as a clerk in the State department. A number of graves were moved to the cemetery here from the Nanta hala section when it was flood ed by erection of the power dam there. Mr. McGIamery's bill to repeal the special act requiring a ma jority of the registered voters m Franklin to cast affirmative ; ballots in order to approve a | town bond issue, and placing Franklin under the provisions of the state law regarding bond issues, was passed on final read ing by the senate Tuesday. It already had passed the house. Passed by the ? house and pending in the senate are Rep. i McGIamery's bills authorizing the towns of Franklin and Highlands to employ policemen, etc., who are not residents of those towns. Rep.
