A miscellaneous shower was given recently in honor of Mrs. D. L. Clark at the home of Mr. and Mrs J M. Brogden. A large crowd was present and many useful gifts were received. Early Morning Fire Destroys Home Of McCall The Sam McCall home, about two and a half .ntles from Franklin, on the Highlands road, 1 burned to the ground about 6 /clock last Friday morning. Mr. McCall, an employe of the Nantahala Power and Light company, and his family were preparing to eat breakfast at the time, and almost nothing in the house was saved. The fire was discovered by i Boyce Hall, Asheville Citizen Times representative, who gave | the alarm to the family. The structure burned within a short time. Representatives of the Red Cross visited the McCalls Fri day morning to give assistance, and arranged for tha family u? be provided with food and need - ed clothing. By coincidence, the liome of another Sam McCall, in Horse Cove, also burned Friday, but .10 details were learned here. Methodist Leaders To Hold Meeting In Bryscn City Friday The district superintendent, Dr Walter B. West, has called a meeting of representative Methodist leaders at the Meth odist church in Bryson City Fri day afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Ministers, charge lay leaders, chairmen of stewardship com mittees, superintendents of church schools, and presidents of Women's Societies for Chris tian Service for this sub-district are expected to attend. Scaly Angus Tolbert, of Speedwell, recently visited his sister, Mrs. Wilma Jamison, at Scaly. Mrs. Mozelle Mason recently paid a visit to her mother, Mrs. Lizzie Kell Sunday.
