MENDENHALL (County Agent) Indications are that fertilizer is going to be short again this spring. Farmers should deter mine their fertilizer needs now and make their purchases, since most of the dealers are well stocked at the present time. Don't wait until the day before >ou intend to seed oats or plant corn or potatoes to buy your fertilizer. Your dealer may not have any oh hand that partlc , ular day. 1 When bujring fertilizer, insist that the nitrogen and potash content be as high as possible. The nitrogen is indicated by the | first figure in the analysis and the potash is the last figure. For Instance, In a 100-pound bag of 4-8-8 fertilizer, you would receive 4 pounds of nitro gen, 8 pounds of phosphorus and a pounds of potassium. There would be a total of 20 pounds of fertilizing elements in this analysis fertilizer. No complete fertilizer should contain less than 20 pounds of plant food to the hundred pound bag. In estimating your fertilizer needs, consideration should be given to the shortage of nitro gen for side dressing. A high nitrogen and potash fertilizer will pay dividends as a side dressing. torn yielding so Dusneis to the acre removes 83 pounds of nitrogen, 36 pounds of phos phorus, and 57 pounds of po tassium from the soil. If you depend entirely on commercial fertilizer to supply this plant food it would require 500 pounds of 4-8-8 fertilizer, 400 pounds of nitrate of soda, and 40 pounds of murate of potash per acre. It has been found that corn does not fire as badly where enough fertilizer is present in the soil as it does when there is a shortage of fertilizer. Heavy fertilizing pays by increased yields. Buy plenty of fertilizer now. DEATH CLAMS MRS. BINGHAM Funeral For Maoon Native Conducted At Clark's Chapel Church Mrs. W. A. Just the other day, he saw the heads of two of his hens sticking out of the top of the sack that was hung up. He investigated, and found 17 eggs in the sack.
