Lem's Dogs vs
Thad's Chickens
Running; a newspaper, 70a get
to know a lot abont human nature.
Thad Phipps was in the other
day, all burned up. Wanted me to
run an item on how Lem Martin's
dog had raided his chickens again,
and ought to be put away by law.
I told him: "Lem was in on
Saturday. Said you shouldn't b?
allowed to keep those chickens so
close to his house? and in a resi
dential zone, at that."
Thad shuts up right pronto
then. And that very evening I see
him making his peace with Lem
at And; Botkin'a Garden Tave. ..
?over a friendly glass of beer.
From where I sit, anyone can
find something In his neighbor to
complain about. (Some folks may
even disagree wjth Thad's right to
enjoy that glass of beer with Lent!)
But where would we be if every
body tried to have a law passed
against everything they disagreed
with? We wouldn't have many
neighbors left!

There's EXTRA VALUE in the Tire that
OUTWEARS PREWAR TIRES
It's time to measure what you get for what
you pay. No matter what you buy, the measure
of true worth is in performance . . . how
long it will serve you.
In tires there are several yardsticks . . .
mileage, protection against bruising and road
shocks, resistance to skidding. In all of these,
the B.F.Goodrich Silvertown gives you extra
value.
Its wider, flatter tread which covers more road
area, spreads the wear more evenly. The more
tire in contact with the road also means more
tread to grip ... to prevent skidding. Be
neath this better tread Is ? 35% stronger cord
body built with sturdier cords and more of
them to give better resistance to road shock
and bruising.
All this Extra Value adds up to today's big
tire buy . . . the postwar B. F. Goodrich
Silvertown ? the tire that OUTWEARS PRE
WAR TIRES.
