NORTH CAROLINA UNAVOIDABLY OMITTED LAST WEEK Mrs. Ida Ray Taken By Death At Home In Oak Dale Section Mrs. Ida Harriett Roper Ray, widow of Emilis Ray, died at her home ii} the Oak Dale com munity last Saturday morning at 12:55 o'clock, following a two months' illness. She was 7ti years, of age. A native of Macon County, Mrs. Ray had spent her entire life here. She was a member of the Oak Dale Baptist church. The funeral services were held Sunday morning at 11 o'clock -at the Oak Dale Baptist church, with the Rev. Noiman K. Hol den officiating. Burial followed in the Fouts cemetery. The fu neral arrangements were under the direction of Potts funeral home. Pallbearers were Leland Rop er, Carl Baldwin, John South ards, Nyle Roper, Olenn Reeves, and Loyal Mason. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Pallie Ray, of Franklin, Route 3; a son, Harry Ray, also of Route 3 ; two brothers, Harl ey Roper, of Route 3, and R. J. Roper, of Dallas, Ore.; two sis ters, Miss Jennie Koper, of Route 3, and Mrs. C. E. Younce, of Oswega, Ore.; and , three grandchildren. Unavoidably Ommitted LAST WEEK D. M. Lunsford Dies At Age Of 70; Riles Held At Aquone David Marion Lunsford, 70 year old Kyle farmer, died at a hospital here Monday morning about 10 o'clock. The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Aquone Baptist church, with the Rev. T. D. Denny officiat ing. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Nephews serv ed as pallbearers. Mr. Denny, who had lived all his life in the Kyle community, was twice married. He first married Miss Lenna Smith, who died in 1929. His second wife was Miss Maude Willis, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Maude Davis and Mrs. Doshie Haney, both of Kyle; two sons, David and Fur man Lunsford, both of Kyle; one brother, the Rev. J. R. Lunsford, of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Zadie Hicks, of Cincinnati, Mrs. Sarah Sapp, of Ware Shoals, S. C., Mrs. Elizabeth Landrith, of La France, S. C.; and four grand children. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Bryant funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. John Ammons and son, of Winston-Salem, re cently visited Mrs Ammons' sis ter, Mrs. Kobert Henry, tier mother, Mrs Jake Williams, and Mr. Ammons' brother, Jim Am mons, at their EUljay homes. Mr. and Mrs. Harlie Dills, of Brevard, recently were here for a visit with their daughter. Mrs. Tom Henry. Mr. and Mrs. Adam Moses, of Sylva, was here recently for a visit to Mr. Moses' uncle, Jake Young. Howard Keener, who has been employed in Utah and in Cali fornia, is here for a visit with his family at their Ellijay home and his parents at their home on Rabbit Creek. He will leave soon to accept a position in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Carrie Henry remains on the sick list. Following a near-epidemic of flu in this community, most persons here are much better, with the warmer weather. Billy Keener,' son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Keener, of Ellijay, has returned home from Angel hospital, where he was under treatment for severe nose bleed. Historic Fort Macon Now Open To Tourists MOREHEAD CITY? Most im portant of the historical at tractions on the Carteret coast is ancient Fort Macon situated three miles east of Atlantic Beach on Bogue Island. After Playing an important role in coastline defense during World War II, the old fortress, start ed in 1824, has reverted to state ownership and is today one of North Carolina's pub lic parks. The old Fort, which has play ed an important role in all ma jor wars sihce its construction, (although it was originally built as a protection against the early pirates) is again open to tourists. J.
