NEWS ? PEOPLE i .MISS KATE ANN PENLAND WEDS C. E. GIBSON Mr. and Mrs. Bayse Penland, j ol Franklin, have announced 1 the marriage of their daughter, Miss Kate Ann Penland, to Cletis E. Oibson, of the Culla saja community. The ceremony was performed at the parsonage of the First Baptist church here by the pas tor, the Rev C E. Parker, April 19. The double ring ceremony was used Miss Frankie Crisp, the bride's only attendant, served as maid of honor, and Howard Penland, | brother of the bride, was best man. A program of nuptial mus ic was presented by Mrs. Bill Bryson. An informal reception was ' held at the home of the bride's | parents, following the ceremony. Mrs Gibson, a graduate of Franklin High school and of Cecil's Business college, has been employed as a stenograph er in Asheville for the past 18 months. The groom, who is em ployed in Detroit, Mich , served more than two years in the armed forces, following his graduation from the Franklin High school. MISS M. L. CORBIN IS BKIDE OF E. O. H OLDEN Mr. and Mrs, Robert B Cor bin, of Franklin, Route 4, have announced the marriage of their daughter. Miss Margaret Louise Corbin, to Earl Orlando Holden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arlen Holden, of Knoxville, Tenn. The marriage was solemnized April 5 at the First Methodist church in Maryville, Tenn , with the Rev. George J. Creswell of ficating. The bride was attired in a suit of azure, with navy blue and white accessories. Her cor sage was of pink rosebuds and lilies-of-the-vally. Mrs. Holden, a graduate of the Franklin High school and of knoxville Business college, is employed in the Girl Scout of fice in Knoxville. Mr. Holden, a graduate of the Knoxville High school also is employed in Knoxville. FORMER FRANKLIN GIRL WEDS BREVARD MAN Announcement has been re ceived here of the wedding of Miss Virginia Burrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Bur rell, of ftabun Gap, Ga., form erly of Franklin, and Linton Lanning, son of Mrs. Helen' Wolfe, of Brevard. The ceremony was perform ed by the Rev. Nane Starnes, of Asheville, at his and Mrs. Starnes' home, on Sunday, April 6. For the double ring ceremony, the bride wore a gray gabar dine suit, with black and white accessories. Her corsage was an orchid. Following a wedding trip to Washington, D. ROLANDS HAVE ALL CHILDREN FOR VISIT Mr. and Mrs W. G. Roland, of Franklin, Rotue 3, had all of their children with them _ last Sunday ? Mother's Day ? for the first time 'in nearly five years. Mr. and Mrs. Doyal Roland and children and Mr. and Mrs. Blake Roland came from Mon ticello, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. John Leonard and son and Miss Kate Roland were here from Greens boro; Mr. and Mrs. Polk All man and children came over from Webster; and Jack Roland and Miss Margaret Roland, who make their home with their parents, were present.
