"The official variety tests are the means of showing the par ticular varieties of all crops suited to a given locality,", A. D. Stuart, seed specialist of State college extension service, said. What new varieties look like, how they stand the rigors of the winter weather, and the ravages of various diseases and insects, will also be shown. "Last but not least," Mr. Stuart said, "the yielding ability of the various crops can be esti mated, and in a few months, the exact yields recorded by those in charge of the official variety tests can be seen." By following the results of these tests, many crop failures due to poor varieties can be avoided, he said.
