construction of their new home

G. L. Houk, county superin
tendent of public instruction,
spent the first part of this week
in Raleigh attending a confer
ence of school superintendents.

Miss May McDowell, of Clay
ton, Ga., is spending sometime
with her cousin, Mrs. Leon T.
Sloan, and family at their home,

Mrs. J. T. Rogers, at 90 years
of age, has come from her
home at Gneiss to make a visit
in Franklin. She is the guest of
her daughter, Mrs. S. W. Stan
