TOWN OF FRANKLIN PROPOSALS FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT BIDS Sealed proposals will be re ceived by the Mayor and Coun cil of the Town of Franklin at their office in the Town of Franklin, North Carolina, until 2:00 P. M. EST. September 15, 1947, for the contract of said improvements at which time they will be properly opened. The work will consist of the following items: Preparing ex isting stone ( base for surface, furnishing and placing addition al stone base and surface treat ing the prepared base on Depot Street in the Town of Franklin to a width of twenty (20) feet, the said Depot Street being ap proximately 3,170 feet, also on Wayah 8treet from the end of the present surface near the in tersection of Depot Street and Wayah Street to the turn of the same near the Railroad a dis tance of approximately 700 feet; this surface to be seventeen (17) feet wide. Each bid must be accompanied by certified check for five per cent of the amount of the bid made payable to the Treasurer of the Town of Franklin as a proposal guarantee. A performance bond will be required of the successful bid der in the amount of 100 per cent of the contract price con ditioned on the faithful per formance of the contract and the payment of all persons sup plying labor or furnishing labor for the construction of the work. Consideration will be given only to bids of contractors who submit evidence showing that they are licensed under "An act to regulate the performance of geheral contracting" ratified by the General Assembly of North Carolina on March 10, 1925.
