Quail and rabbit season, which were originally scheduled to close on January 1, now will re main open though January 31. Grouse season was also extended to remain open through January 31. A. Gibson Finishes Basic Training Work Private Joseph A. Gibson, son of Mr. and Mrs Carrol Gibson, of the Leatherman community* recently completed a basic training program at Fort Ord, Calif., and is on orders for fur ther duty in the Quartermaster school, Camp Lee, Va. Auto Accident Death Toll Shows Decrease In the first eight months of this year, 515 people lost their lives on North Carolina streets and highways, a 21 per cent de crease from the 652 who were killed during the corresponding period in 1946.
