MISS ANNA LOIS SHIELDS
IS BKIDE OF E. CHILDERS
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Shields,
of Franklin, Route 3, have an
nounced the marriage of their
daughter, Miss Anna Lois
Shields, to Ernest Childers, son
of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Childers,
of Whittier.
The wedding vows were spok
en at 4 p. m last Wednesday in
the home of the bride's parents,
with the Rev. C. C. Welch of
ficiating, in the presence of
a large group of friends and
relatives.
The bride and groom entered
the living room unattended The
bride wore a suit of blue gabar
dine with black accessories. Her
corsage was of talisman rose
buds.
Mrs. Childers Is a graduate of
the Franklin H'gh .school.
Mr. Childers is a graduate of
the Bryson City High . ihool
and attended North CaruMna
State college, Raleigh, for one
year before joining the marines,
hi which he served three years.
Mr. and Mrs. Childers will be
at home at Franklin, Route 3.
CHEER LEADERS ENTERTAIN
FOR GRID TEAM MEMBERS
. Members of the Franklin high
school football were entertained
at a party given in their honor
by the high school cheer leaders
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Sloan last Friday night.
The evening was spent in
round and (square dancing and
playing games.
Members of the cheering
squad who gave the party are
the Misses Margaret Setser, Lu
cille Hannah, Maxine Renshaw,
Frankie Crisp, June Bradley,
and Juanita Allen.

Mrs. Fred Guffey entertained
with a miscellaneous shower
Friday evening at her home,
Franklin, Route 3, honoring Mrs
Geneva Gibson Guffey, recent
bride of George Guffey, also ol
Route 3.
The house was beautifully
decorated with chrysanthemums
and other fall flowers.
The honoree was the recipient
of many attractive and useful
gifts.
Approximately thirty friends
attended. The hostess served de
licious refreshments.
