Both cars ] were virtually demolished. T. W. Smith, of Knoxville driver of one of the automo Diles, was charged with reckless driving and was released Thurs | Jay on a $200 cash bond. The three injured were ad mitted to Angel hospital for treatment of severe bruises and lacerations. Mr. Duvall and Mr. Fouts were discharged Thurs | day, and Mr. Oakes t> riday. Riding with Mr. Smith in a 1946 Chevrolet sedan, which was traveling north, were Ed I ward Payne, Bob Wouther, ivii Oakes, and James Phillips, ah of Knoxville. The only occu pants of the other car, a lSMi. Ford coach, were Mr. Duvall am. Mr: Fouts. The accident occurred when the car driven by Mr. Smith attempted to round the Lowry curve, traveling north at what officers said was a high rate of speed; ran off the pavement on the left hand side, cut back on \o the pavement and crasneu into the car driven by going south, before returning to the right side of the roau. Tire marks clearly showed the course of travel taken by tht Smith car. Although broken beer bottles were found in the Ford, all oc cupants of both cars were ex amined and no one was fjuna to have been drinking according to Deputy Sheriff Walter Dean, who assisted Sheriff J. Brad ley in investigating the acci lent.
