Nantahala By HOWARD C. DOUTHIT I School Reporter An epidemic of colds has struck Nantahala High school, causing several absences. Herbert Bateman Is at home ill, and Joe Steppe has just re turned to school after recover ing from a severe cold. Despite the absence of their leading players, Nantahala high met Andrews, on the Andrews court, December 5. The girls of Nantahala were victorious, but the boys, who were com pelled to use substitutes from the second team, and were greatly handicapped by the ab sence of their captain, six foot, two Herbert Bateman, were beaten. , Cherokee locked horns with Nantahala November 25 and the girls' score at the end of the game was. tied. However, the boys were beaten one point by the Cherokee boys. Nantahala girls so far have not lost a game this season. Anderson Creek The farmers of this section are about up with their fall work. Miss Gracie Beck, who has been ill for several weeks, is improving. Mrs. Helen Wikes and chil dren weire here recently for a visit to Mrs. Annie Collier. Mrs. Gusie Sweatman is im proving, following an illness of several weeks Zeb Anderson, of Lower Car toogechaye, spent a recent week-end with Mr. and Mrs Arthur Collier. J Frogs Are Imported By Air For Swedish Scientists' Tast; A load of croaking frogs re cently arrived at the Bromma airport in Stockholm, Sweden, from Hungary and consigned to Swedish scientists who are car rying on experiments with the transmission of impulses from nerves to muscles.
