Address - ? - DR. BURNSIDE MOVESOFFICE Veterinarian Purchase* East Franklin House For Office, Home Or. O. H. Burnside has mov ed his office to a building just outside the corporate limits, East Franklin. Dr. Burnside purchased the house, which is located near the intersection of the Ingram road and the Franklln-Dills boro highway, from Swain Rob erts. The veterinarian plans to use the home as an oflice and a residence. He said that this spring he plans to make some additions which will enable him to take care of both large and small animals there. Prior to this, Dr. Burnside had been occupying an office in the AgWultural building. Dr. Michal Is District Health Head Dr. Mary Michal, who has been acting health officer for the past year and a half for the counties of Haywood, Jack son, Swain, and Macon, was ap pointed health officer at the recent meeting of the district board of health, held at Sylva. George A. Brown, Jr., of Way nesville, was reelected chairman of the board, and Dr. A. P. Cline, of Canton, one of the public members whose term ex pired this year, was reelected also. He will serve for four years. J. H. Way, mayor of Waynes ville, has been appointed by Dr. Carl V. Reynolds, state officer, to fill a vacancy caused by the withdrawal of Transylvania county to fill the position. Dr. Michal had been serving as health officer since the res ignation of Dr. C. N. Sisk, who took charge of the district which has headquarters in Mor gan ton. Plan To Present Testaments For All Hospital Beds Plans to present a New Testa ment for each bed to the Angel hospital were made at a recent meeting of the Presbyterian Youth Fellowship group, accord ing to John Flanagan, president. To date, 14 testaments have been purchased and will be plac ed in the hospital within a few days. The group hopes within the near future to obtain a Bible for each room, and have set as their final goal a Bible for every hospital bed in Macon County. Mechanical inspection require ments states that "all motor vehicles having a windshield shall be equipped with at least one windshield wiper in good working order for cleaning rain, snow, or other moisture from the windshield, so as to provide clear vision for the driver. All such devices shall be so con structed and Installed as to be operated or controlled by the driver. All motor vehicles orig inally equipped with dual wind shield wiper may not in this re spect be altered and both are < subject to the above standards." There are the requirements, motorists! It's up to you to see that your car passes the test. If your vehicle has only one windshield wiper in good safe working condition? that's fine. But if the vehicle was originally equipped with two, then both of them MUST work. Accident statistics of the Mo-' tor Vehicles department show that many accidents have been caused by poor windshield wip ers?or ones that would not work in blinding rains and sleet, causing the drivers to lose their course on the highways.
