Macon County over-subscribed
its quota in the recent drive for
idult members of the Boy Scout
organization, B. L. McGlamery,
finance chairman, announced
this week. The quota was $6;>7 . -
The funds go ror the opera

full-time Scou'o workers, and
other council expenses.
Between 50 and 60 workers
conducted the campaign, which
was carried to most sections of
the county, Mr. McGlamery said.
? He commented that the High
lands community made an un-<
usually good showing, and that
employes of the Zickgraf com
pany subscribed 100 per cent.
The amount they gave then was
matched by the firm, the latter
donation making all the Zick

Keeping School
Where It Now Is
Students of Nantahala (Otter
Creek) school last Friday voted
74 to 26 in favor of keeping the
school at its present location.
The students understand that
the county board of educatior
may select a different site when
v new school is built in Nanta
hala township, and that some,
at least, of the new schools to
be built may have to be con
structed without auditoriums
and gymnasiums. '
The present school has a gym
nasium and auditorium, and the
students took the attitude that
the present location would be
better than any that might be
selected, if the change in loca
tion should result in having a
building lacking, even tempora
lly, these facilities.
The vote was taken at the
request of citizens of the com
munity. Students from the
fourth grade up participated in
the ballot.
