Hunnicutt entertained with a buffet supper Sunday evening at the home of Mrs. Siler, hon oring Miss Dorothy Jones and Clinton Chamberlain, whose en gagement recently was announc ed. A color scheme of green and white was used. The table was centered with an arrangement of white tulips and snapdragon. The honorees were presented by the hostesses with a pair of lustre vases. Covers were laid for 28 rela tives and close friends of the young couple. W. C. SHEFFIELD GIVEN 75TH BIRTHDAY DINNER W. C. Sheffield, of West's Mill, was honored by Mrs. Sheffield and their children Sunday with a birthday dinner, the occasion marking his 75th birthday an niversary. With the exception of William Troy Sheffield, of Bristol. Va., who was kept away by illness, all of the children were pres ent for the celebration, and many neighbors and friends called during the day to offer congratulations, a total of about 75 being present. The children, in-laws, and grandchildren home for the an niversary were Mrs. Terrell Bry son, and Mr. Bryson, Mrs Grady Reno, and Mrs. Grace Wilson, all of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. E. B. Rickman, of Canton, Mrs. Hugh Cathey and Mr. Cathey, of Can ton, Edward and Billy Shef field, of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Sheffield, of Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Sheffield and four children of Canton, Mr. and Mrs. Vednon Sheffield and two children, of Canton, Harold Sheffield, of Clyde, and Mr. and Mrs. Grover Sheffield, of West's Mill. Also present was a neph ew, Jesse Downs, and his fam ily, of Franklin, Route 4. JUNIOR MUSIC CLUB WILL MEET SATURDAY The Junior Music club will meet with Jo Ann Henderson Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, The program will be given by piano pupils who are to enter the annual Federation music festival in Asheville April 10. Allen Siler is spending this week here with his family. Miss Southard Weds James E. Perry, Jr. Miss Byrda Nell Southard, daughter of Frank Southard, of Asheville, became the bride of James E. Perry, Jr , son of Mrs J. E. Perry, of Franklin, and of the late Mr. Perry, in a can dlelight service Saturday eve ning at 8 o'clock at the Frank lin Methodist church. The Rev. Charles E. Parker, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiated, using the double ring ceremony. A pro gram of wedding music was given by Mrs. Henry Cabe, organist, and Harold Lang, vo cal soloist. The church was decorated with arrangements of Easter lilies, white gladioli, hemlock and pine, and with white light ed tapers in seven-branchea candelabra. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of duchess satin made with a round net yoke and ber- j cha, fitted bodice, and full skirt, which ended in a long, circular | train. Her veil of French illu- 1 sion tell from a tiara of orange blossoms, and she carried an arm bouquet of rosebuds, lilies ol-the-val!ey, and stephonitis, centered with a white orchid. Her only ornament was a strand jf pearls, a gift of the groom. Mrs. J. Ward Long served as matron of honor. She wore a gown of yellow taffeta, fashion ed with an off-shoulder neck line, fitted bodice, and full skirt. She wore white lace mitts and her headdress was of yel low plumes. She carried a bou quet of mixed flowers. Bridesmaids were the Misses Ann Ray, Mildred Cabe, and Louise Pendergrass, of Frank lin, and Miss Jessie Sutton, of Decatur, Ga., cousin of the groom. They were attired in dresses of powder blue taffeta fashioned like that of the ma tron of honor. They wore white mitts, and their headdresses were of powder blue plumes They carried nosegays of mixed flowers. Jane Long, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ward Long, was flower girl, and Landis Pender grass, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pendergrass, was ring bearer. Winton Perry served as his brother's best man. Ushers were Vic H. Perry, brother of the groom, J. Ward Long, John M Archer, Jr., Frank L. Henry, Jr., and Roger Sutton, ot Franklin, and Boyd 8utton, Jr., couain ol the groom, of Decatur, Oa. Mrs. Perry, mother of the groom, was attired in a grey crepe dress and wore a corsage of violets and pink rosebuds Following the ceremony, a re ception was held at the home Of the bridegroom's mother. The bridal table was covered with an embroidered linen cloth and was centered with an old epergne holding white swejt peas, lilies-of-the-valley, and white candytuft, flanked with silver candelabra holding white lighted tapers. At the reception, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Houk received the guests, and Mrs. J. N. Dowdle, Mrs. Grace O'Mohundro, Mrs. Comer Vandiver, Mrs. Roy Pen dergrass. Miss Katherine Long, and Miss Merrily Brooks assist ed in serving. After the reception, the couple left by motor for a wedding trip through Florida For traveling, the bride wore a navy blue gab ardine suit with navy blue and pink accessories. Her corsage was the orchid from the bridal bouquet. Out-of-town guests here fo: the wedding included Mr. and Mrs Frank Turner, of Asheville, Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen, of Andrews, William Holliday, of Siler City, and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Southard, uncle and aunt of the bride, of Sylva. MRS. WELCH ENTERTAINS WITH SHOWER FOR HURSTS Mrs C. C. Welch entertained at her West's Mill home with a miscellaneous shower -for Mr. and Mrs. John Hurst, recent bride and groom, the evening of March 12. The couple received many at tractive and useful gifts from the some 50 or 60 guests. Following an evening of Personal Mention John A. (Qua) Leach, who it doing newspaper work In Qulncy, Fia., spent the week-end here with his mother, Mrs Ous Leach, and other relatives. Mrs William P. Walker, Jr., ; her son, William P. Ill, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack 1 Stribling, all of Andrews, were here on business last Wednes day. Mr and Mrs. Stribling and their daughter, the former Miss Myra Stribling, formerly made their home in Franklin. Pfc. Roy L. Phillips, who is serving in the army military police, left last week to return to his station at Barksdale Field, La., after an 18-day leave spent here with his parents, Mr. ana Mrs. Clarence N. Phillips, at . their home on Bonny Crest. Mrs h. a. Edwards, Miss Aline Edwards, and Herbert Edwards, of Adalrsville, Ga., and Marvin La Vasque, of Cassville, Ga., were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald C. Carr. Mrs. F. E.
