T. Peek, of Franklin, N. C? to Lt Howard I. Price, son of Mr and Mrs. George Price, of Bradenlon, Fla., was solemnized at 4 p. m. March 23. in the Langley Air Force Base chapel. Chaplain (Capt.) Vernon M. Goodhand officiated, using the double ring ceremony before a background of spring flowers and lighted tapers. M. Sgt. Harry Hough sang "I Love You Truly ", "Because", and "The Lord's Prayer", accompain ed by Sgt. Jack Wells at the organ Sgt. Wells also played "Oh Promise Me" and "Ah, Sweet Mystery Of Life". The bride wore a powder blue street dress with white acces sories and carried a bouquet 01 sweet peas. Mrs. W. F. McGregor, the ma tron of honof, wore a grey dress suit with black accessories and a corsage of irises. The best man was Capt. Wen dell Buckheister. Lt. Price, who went overseas with the Eighth Air Force, while on his 57th mission over the Ruhr Valley was shot down and was held as a prisoner of war for 11 days. He is presently on temporary duty at Langley, but will leave for the Far Eastern Air Force theatre in a few days. Mrs. Price hopes to join her husband overseas within a very short time. MRS SLAGLE HONORED WITH SURPRISE SHOWER Mrs. Carl S. Slagle was hon ored by a large group of her friends with a surprise shower at her home on Cartoogechaye last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Slagle, who plans to move j soon to the "Black Place", on N&ntahala, received many at tractive gifts. Tea, coffee, and cake were,, served to the 25 guests who were present. i MISS VIRGINIA BROOKSHJRE ENGAGED TO JAY F. SMITH The engagement of Miss Vir ginia Brookshire, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Brookshiie, of the Cartoogechaye commun ity, to Jay F. Smith, son of John F. Smith and of the late Mr., Smith, has been announced by the parents of the bride-to-be. Miss Brookshire Is a graduate of the Franklin High school, class of 1947. Mr. Smith, for merly employed in the Bell bomber plant in Atlanta, is now an employe of the Georgia State Board of Education. Plans for the wedding have not been announced. MISS MARGIE ANDERSON MARRIES ODELL GUFFEY Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ander son, of Franklin, Route 1, have announced the marriage of their daughter. Miss Margie Anderson, to Odell Guffey, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Raleigh Guffey, of Franklin, The wedding took place March 27 in Clayton, Da.
