Miss Annie Lou Huscusson became the bride ol James H Tailent, Jr., in a candlelight ceremony ak 8 o'clock last Sat urday evening at the Presby terian manse The Rev. Hoyt Evans, Franklin Presbyterian pastor and pastor of the bride, officiated, using the double ring ceremony. The manse was attractively decorated with dogwood and greenery. The bride was attired in a suit of beige, with which she wore pink and black accessories. Her corsage was of pink rose buds. The only attendants were Mrs. Fred Edwards, the bride's aunt; Mrs John Cothem, the groom's sister; Dock Tailent, brother of the groom; and Ralph Cunning ham. The bride, who is the daugh ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Huscusson, is a graduate of the Franklin High school, where she majored in commerce. She has been cashier at The Frank lin Press for the?past two years. The groom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. (Jim) Tai lent, of Franklin, Route 3, at tended school in Macon county, and was in the armed forces for about 18 months. He is employ ed in Gastonia. Mr. and Mrs. Tailent will make their home in Cramerton, near Gastonia. MRS. DUNCAN ENTERTAINS AT 8-TABLE BRIDGE LUNCH Mrs. Frank B. Duncan en tertained with a bridge-lunch eon last Friday afternoon at Panorama Courts. The main dining room was at tractively decorated with dog wood. and iris. Following the luncheon, bridge was played at eight tables. Prizes were awarded as fol lows: , . Mrs. J. E. S. Thorpe, high score; Mrs. Marvin Hoover, sec ond high; Mrs. Paul Russell, first bingo; Mrs. Ben Grant, second bingo; and Mrs. Roy Geoghagen, low score. Guest prizes were presented to Mrs. Horace DeHart and Mrs. Edwin B. Whitaker, of Bryson City. MISS HUSCUSSON GIVEN PRE-WEDDING SHOWERS Miss Annie Lou Husgusson, who became the bride of James H. Talient, Jr., Saturday eve ning, was honored at several pre-nuptial social events. She was given a surprise shower at the Business Girls 1 circle of the Franklin Presby terial church last Thursday afternoon at the Presbyterian j manse. The manse was attrac tively decorated with dogwood and greenery for the occasion, and Miss Huscusson received many attractive gifts. Friday evening Miss Nettie Hurst, Mrs. Cecil Austin, and Miss Daisy Hunnicutt entertain ed for the bride-to-be at Miss Hurst's home, Franklin, Route 3, with a miscellaneous shower. The house was decorated with yellow spring flowers, and the lace cloth for the tea table was laid over a yellow base. In the course of the evening, the hon oree cut the bride's cake. '(Jim) Browning, of the Highlands road, is a patient at Angel hospital, suffering fr_,m a broken kneecap, which he re ceived in a fall Wednesday of last week. Miss Mayme Moses, of Hayes vllle and Macon County, left Tuesday for Nashville, Tenn., aiie will siuuy at Peabody college this spring and summer. Mr. and Mrs. Cice.o Messer, of the Leatherman community, are visiting their son, Granville Messer, and family, in Pontiac, Mich Mrs. J. D. Brendle and daugh ter, Phyllis Sue, of Franklin, Route 3, have been visiting Mrs. Brendle's sister, Mrs. Elwood Bailey, and Mr. Bailey at Can ton. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Zachary and family Monday moved into the house, at the interseection of West Main and Bidwell streets, formerly occuplde bj Mr. and Mrs. Louis Manning. Victor Perry, student at th University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, spent the week-enc at home. He was accompanied by his roommate, Dale Evarts ot Meriden, Conn. Miss Mary Willis, who has spent the winter at Silvei Springs, Fla., has returned b her home here, Miss Amanda Slagle, of Mount Pleasant, and the Misses Lucj Slagle and Mary Culpepper, of Atlanta, Ga., spent the week end at the Slagle home on Car toogechaye. Mrs. W. W. Sloan left Wed nesday for Raleigh, where she will visit her daughter, Mrs. Hall Swain. She expects to be away about two weeks. Dr and Mrs. E. F. Hoover, of San Diego, Calif., arrived Fri day for a visit, to Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Hoover at Coweeta. Dr. Hoover is Mr. Hoover's father. Mrs. Bob Korte, of Waynes Fellowship Supper Set For Friday Night At 7 i The monthly fellowship sup per of the Franklin Methodist church will be held tomorrow (Friday) evening at 7 o'clock.
