Miss Hunnicutt Wcrk At New Post Leaving To lake Up Miss Daisy Hunnicutt, who has been here since J uik\ 1946. as local representative of the American Sunday School union, has been given a promotion and will leave Franklin about May 1 lor her new duties. Miss Hunicutt, who has beeen i associated ? here with the Rev. and Mrs. R. H. Hull,' has beeen assigned a field in East Ten nessee. with the mountainous corners of upper North Caro lina and lower Virginia includ ed. "She probably will make her headquarters at Mountain City, Tenn. Since she has been in Frank lin, she has been engaged in organizing and maintaining Sunday schools, and in conduct ing prayer services, teacher training classes, Bible clubs, young people's societies, Bible conferences, etc., in Macon, Jackson, Swain, and Haywood counties in North Carolina, and Rabun, in Georgia. A native of Chattanooga, Miss Conley Heads Van Raalte Mutual Aid Association Miss Katherine Conley -has been named chairman of uit recently organized Mutual Aiu Association of Van Raalte em ployes here. Miss Conley was elected 6 the first meeting of the boari of the directors of the organiza tion, held last Wednesday Mrs. Margaret Neal was elect ed vice-chairman, and Miss Betty Peek was chosen secre tary-treasurer. The directors decided to meet on the first Wednesday of eacl month. 15 On Honor Roll At Chapel School Fifteen students at the Chap el (Negro) school made the roll for the fifth six-week per j iod. C. Island Released MOREHEAD CITY.- The ter I rapi brood stock on Pivers Is land which for nearly a half century has been used for pro pagating of diamond backs are being liberated. Reason for this, funds which formerly came from the state and federal gov ernment for propagation pur poses are no longer available. Since shortly after the turn of the present century, more than 250,000 baby terrapins have been hatched in the propagation pens of Pivers Island under su pervision of U. S. Fish and Wildlife officials. The young released and as a result, the diamond back terrapin, almost extinct during the 1890s, has made a comeback in Atlantic coast waters. Are you waiting to jet your driver's license rein stated after a revocation or suspension? If so, you'd better start in juirlng into the state's finan cial responsibility law. It is estimated that at present there are about 900 persons in North Carolina who expect to have their driving licenses re instated within the next month. But unless they start working at least 30 days ahead toward showing proof of financial re sponsibility, they may have to wait longer, according to the Department of Motor Vehicles. Department officials are urg ing motorists who are tempor arily deprived of their driving privileges to look Into the fi nancial responsibility act im mediately?write the Highway Safety division of the depart ment if necessary- -to make ar rangements about securing "proof." How do you go about estab lishing proof of financial re sponsibility? The law states that it may be shown by one of the following methods: 1. Secure a standard automo bile liability Insurance policy and have the insurance com pany issuing your policy tile with the Highway Safety divi sion, Department of Motor Ve hicles, a certificate known as Form SR22, showing coverage for the vehicle or vehicles for which proof is required under the law If no vehicle is owned or registered by you, then the certificate must show that you have been Issued a "named op erator's policy." 2. File with the Highway Saf ety division a surety or real estate bond In the amount of. $11,000 with respect to each ve hicle for which proof is requir ed. Bond forms may be secured from the division. 3. Deposit with the Highway Safety division cash or secur ities in the amount of $11,000 with respect to each vehicle for which proof is required.
