Charles Waldroop, became the' bride of Siler Slagle, son of Mr | and Mrs. Carl S. Slagle, in a J ceremony at 10 a m. Saturday, - May 15, at St. John's Episcopal chapel on Cartoogechaye. The Rev. A Rufus Morgan, rector of the church, officiated ,The chapel was decorated with vases of syringa and lighted | cathedral tapers on the altar, ana the church rail was en twined with English ivy. The bridal couple entered the church to the strains of the wedding march from "Lohen grin", played by Miss Nell Waldroop. The bride wore a white gab ardine suit, with which she used navy and light blue ac cessories. Her shoulder corsage was of pink rosebuds, Mrs. Slagle is a graduate of i Franklin High school and of I the Greenleaf School of Busi- | ness in Atlanta. For the past three years, she has been with the Farm Home administration | in Franklin. Mr Slagle is a graduate of Franklin High school and of North Carolina State college. During the war he served in the Marine . corps, several months of his service having been overseas. He is engaged in farming and in teaching in the veterans' agricultural program. Immediately following the wedding, the bridal couple left on a short wedding trip, after which they will be home on j Cartoogechaye MISS WALDROOP, MR. SILER HONORED ON WEDDING EVE Mrs. R D. Carson and Miss Kate McGee entertained with a dinner party at the Bidwell Street home of Mrs Carson in honor of Miss Nina Waldroop and Siler Slagle last Friday evening, on the eve of their wedding. The table was iaiu lace cloth and was centered with an arrangement of pink roses and lighted white candles. Covers were laid for Miss Wal droop, Mr. Slagle, Miss Myra Slagle, Bob Waldroop, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hastings, Miss Mc Gee, and Mr. and Mrs. Carson BIBLE CLASS TO MEET WITH MRS. M'COLLUM The F. S. Johnston Bible class 1 of the First Methodist church i will meet this (Thursday) after noon at 3:30 o'clock. The meet ing will be held with Mrs. E. Beshears j I returned Monday from a few ] days' visit to Mr Beshears old home, Huntsville, Ala. I Mrs. W. W. McConnell left Monday for an extended visit to her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry McConnell, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and to friends and relatives in Oregon and California. Cabe and Mr. Cabe, and her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. St. Clare Anderson. Mr. and Mrs Rice are en route to Richland, Wash., where they expect to make their home. Miss Kate Roland, who is employed with Sears, ' Roebuck and company in Greensboro, is spending a vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs W. G. Roland, of Franklin, Route 3. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Barnard, of Seattle, Wash., arrived here Saturday for a visit to Mr. Barnard's sister and brother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Dowdle, and other relatives. Mr. Barn ard, a native of this county, is back home for the first time in 30 years. Mr. and Mrs. Barnard made their trip across the con tinent by motor. Miss Maxine Dean, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Herman Dean, is in Asheville taking a business course at Blanton's Business college. Miss Frances Barr spent the week-end in Penland, N. C. Allen Ordway, of New Orleans, La., is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ordway. Mrs. Lucy Collier has return ed to Franklin from an extend ed visit with her son in Balti more, Md. The Misses Jeanette McKim mon and Lucy Slagle, of At lanta, and Amanda Slagle, of Mount Pleasant, spent the week end at the Slagle home on ,Car toogechaye. Miss Myra Slagle, student at Woman's college of the Univer sity of North Carolina, Greens boro, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl 8. Slagle. Mr. Moses is principal of the Otter Creek (Nantahala) school. Mr. and Mrs Flamen Ball and Mrs. Ball's sister, Miss Hel en Ford, Saturday returned to Franklin for the summer, after spending the winter at Babson Park, Fla. The Balls make their home in summer at their home here, the Palmer farm house, three miles from Franklin on the Highlands road, which they purchased. Miss Lillian Jones arrived from Savannah Saturday to spend a month's vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs. Gil mer A. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Jones, of Asheville, spent the week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. R. S Jones. Mrs. F. S. Johnston has ar rived from Tampa, Fla., to spend the summer with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman E Pickle simer, of Highlands, Walhalla Route, have announced the birth of a son, Brandon Sylvester, April 15 at the Rabun County Maternity hospital, Clayton, Oa.
