N. C. Life Insurance Benefits For Quarter Total $5,063,000 North Carolina families re ceived $5,445,000 in life insur- | ance death benefit payments under 4.841 policies during the I firpt three months of this year. I compared with $5,063,000 under 4,894 policies in the correspond ing period of last year, the In stitute of Life Insurance has re ported. "These payments reflect the increasing ownership of life in surance," the Institute said in announcing the figures. ''Al though there has not been an appreciable change in mortal ity, the greater amount of life Insurance at risk resulted in greater death benefit payments In this state." Of the aggregate payments in this state, $4,078,000 was under 1,346 ordinary policies; $026,000 was Under 207 group life In* surance certificates; ai.C. $741, 000 was under 3,198 industrial Insurance policies. For the nation as a whole, $377,206,000 was paid as death claims under 353,532 policies in the first quarter, compared with $344,718,000 under 334,326 pol icies in the corresponding peri ' od of last year. Of this year's first quarter payments, $262, 268,000 was under 97,916 ordi nary policies; $59,959,000 was under 29,388 group policies; and $54,979,000 was under 226,228 .udustrial policies. 1 1 Nationally, the death benefit payments were nine per cent larger than a year ago. Other payments to policyholder! show ed an appreciable increase For the nation as a whole, the pay ments to living policyholders were $458,609,000 in the first quarter, compared with $426, 055,000 in the corresponding period in 1947. Health Inspections Arranged For 4-H Members Every 4-H club member is ex pected to carry out a heaith improvement project, and an ar rangement has been made, with a view to helping the 4-H boys and girls, with Mrs. Frank Shope, county health nurse, for eash of them to have a per sonal health inspection. The inspections are being scheduled at the schools which have 4-H clubs, and the sched ules at four schools were an nounced this week: Highlands, tomorrow (Friday) at 10 a m.; Scaly tomorrow ai 2 p. m.; Cowee Friday of next week at 10 a. m.; and Burning town Friday of next week at 2 p. m. Other schedules wiu be announced later. It was emphasized that each 4-H club member is expected to attend one of these inspections, and it was added that the mem Ders may obtain immunizations against smallpox, diphtheria, whooping cough, and typhoid at the lime. Such immunizations also will be available at these inspection periods for the gen eral public. 4-H Girls To Hold County Dress Revue Saturday Morning The 4-H club girls of Macon County will have their annual dress Revue Saturday at 10:30 a. m. at the Agricultural build ing. Those participating in the revue are girls who have taken clothing as part of their 4-H club work this year. Several of the girls have participated in revuea in their local clubs and now will enter into the county wide revenue. Any 4-H club girl who has made a dress or any garment this year is eligible to compete in the county revue. Those participating hi the re vue should be at the Agricul tural building by 10 a. m. in order that the program can be gin on time. Any one who is interested in the revue is cordially invited to attend and see the garments ? that the 4-H girls have made. Say: "I Saw it advertised in The Press."
