S Jones, and Mrs. Allen Slier honored Mrs. Robert Wal liroop, the former Miss Myra Slagle, with a tea and shower at the home of Mrs. Slier on Main street Wednesday after noon of last week. The bridal motif of green and white was observed, both in the llowers and the refreshments. The tea table was overlaid with a lace cloth and centered with white rhododendron in a silver bowl, flanked by silver candelabra holding lighted tap ers. Approximately 75 guests call ed during the afternoon Mrs. George Pattillo, Miss Amanda Slagle, and Mrs. Emory Hunnicutt assisted in serving. TENNESSEE GIRL BECOMES HERSHELL LEDFORD'S BRIDE Miss Maxie Wild, daughter of Mrs. Sam Wild, of Etowah, Tcnn., ind of the late Mr. Wild, was married to Hershell Led ford, son of Fred Ledford, of Franklin, and of the late Mrs. Ledford, ? at Etowah Sunday, June 20. The bride was attired in white, with gold accessories, and her corsage was of orchids. Mr. and Mrs. Ledford will make their home in Charlotte/ where Mr, Ledford is employed by the Southern Bell Telephone 1 and Telegraph company. Personal .Mention Mrs. Mary Curtis, formerly of Franklin, who now makes her home in Atlanta with her son, Gaston Curtis, is here for a 10-day stay. Mr. and Mrs. Gas ton Curtis will join her here Saturday for a few days' vaca tion. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. J., were the recent guests here of Mr. and Mrs John Wasilik, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Riley Fergu son and children, Patricia Anne and John Robert, have returned to their home in Los Angeles, Calif., ^fter spending 10 days with Mr. Ferguson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Ferguson, and other relatives here. Jennifer Seay, young daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seay, of Franklin, was bitten by a black widow spider Sunday and immediately became very ill. She was brought to Angel clinic where the black widow serum was administered. The child is now doing quite well, it Was said at the clinic. James I. (Tom) Rowland, formerly with Sossamon Furni ture company here, has accept ed a position with Macon Coun ty Supply company. Dr. R. P. McCutcheon, sum mer resident of the Cartooge chaye community, left Satur day for Harvard university, where he will conduct a summer school course in English. Mrs: G. W. Trollinger has as her guests her sister, Mrs. Elma f eatherstone, and her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. ,J. W. Stephens, all of Leesburg, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Martin, of Adairsville, Ga., have been here visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Gibson, of Frank lin, and Mr. and Mrs. Pink Martin, of the Lakey Creek sec tion. Mr. and Mrs. J. Caputo and grandson, Larry Caputo, of Fort Myers, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. M. Monderer, of New York, and Mr. and Mrs. M. J.' Tiesen drumm, of New York, are guests at "Hall of the Pines", home of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Porter. Mr. Tiesendrumm has come to Franklin to be associated with Highlands Briar, Inc., which is headed by Mr. Monderer County Supt. G. L. Houk re turned to his office Monday after an illness of several days at Angel hospital. E. J. Whitmire, who is attend ing summer school at N. C. State college, Raleigh, spent the week end at home. Zion Church A aeries of revival services Will start Sunday night at 8 o'clock at the Mount Zton Methodist church, it was an nounced this week by the pas tor, Mrs. R. H. Hull. The preach ing will be done by the Rev. Ben Buzai-d, of Canton, Ohio. Services will be held nightly at 8 o'clock for an indefinite period.
