The educational program will include such activities as tim ber thinning and stand im provement, ^elective harvesting, pruning, management plans on demonstration farms, timber scaling, forest planting for both timber and erosion control, marketing, 4-H club and other types of contests, tours, and lield days. Revised 'Farming Guide' Available To General Public Copies of a recently revised popular bulletin of the State college . extension service en titled, "A Farming Guide for North Carolina," is now avail able for distribution. The publication cotains much information dealing with the more important farming opera tions. liiis information, con densed and presented as "jobs to be done by months,'' provides a check list for the farmer to use in planning work which should be done on his farm each month. The calendar of work includes jobs to be done for livestock, field crops, fruits and vege tables, poultry, and general op eration. Other information such as recommended varieties, seed ing rates, and fertilizer require ments for crops is included. Copies may be obtained free by writing the Agricultural Ed itor, State College, Raleigh. Please ask for Extension Circul ar No. 263.
