S5 people MISS BARBARA CONLEY WEDS FREDERICK WALDROOP Miss Barbara Ann Conley, daughter of Mrs. Zeb W Conley and the late Mr. Conley, was married to George *rcaeiu,K Waldroop, son of Mr and Mrs. Burnell Waldroop, Friday even ing, October 14, at the home of the bride. The Kev. A. C. Gibbs, pastor of the Franklin Methodist church performed the ceremony in the presence of the imme diate families. An improvised altar of ever greens and white chrysanthe mums interspersed with lighted cathedral tapers was arranged in front of the fireplace in the living room. Mrs. John Knox Hunter, sister of the bride, presented a pro gram of wedding music. The bridal couple entered unat tended. The bride wore a navy blue gabardine suit with which she used light blue accessories. Her corsage was of red rosebuds. An informal reception was held following tlje ceremony. The bridal table was covered with a lacc cloth. A crystal bowl of white chrysanthemums sur rounded by evergreens and flanked with lighted tapers in crystal holders formed the cen terpiece. I Following the reception, the couple left for a short wedding trip to Florida. Upon their re turn they will reside in Frank lin. The bride is a graduate of Franklin high school and is now employed by the Western Caro lina Telephone Company. The groom attended Franklin high School, and is a veteran of World War n. having served five years In the armed forces, two and one half of which he spent In the European area. He Is now employed by the Macon Willys Company. Members of the F. 8. John son Bible Class and the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Franklin Metho dist church honored Mrs. Fred erick Waldroop with a tea and miscellaneous shower Thursday afternoon at Slagle Memorial building. The tea table was covered with a linen cloth and had a j centerpiece of mixed chrysan- 1 themums. The hostess served a dessert course during the af ternoon. and Mrs. T. W. Porter and Miss Laura Jones served tea and coffee. Fifty guests were present. FORMER MACON GIRL WEDS OHIO MAN SEPTEMBER 25 Miss Betty Keener, grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs Emory Keener- and James L. Young, of Franklin, Route 2 and daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Keener, former Macon County residents, became the bride of Duane High at the First Methodist church of Shelby, Ohio late in Septem ber of thla year. Following a wedding trip to Chicago the couple will make 1 tnelr home in Shelby where both are employed at present. Paul Russell and family lelt Wednesday morning for Naza reth, Penna., where Mr. Russell i who is assistant supervisor of the Nantahala National Forest, was called on account of a death in hi* family. They plan to be away a week or 10 days. Mr and Mrs. D. W Nichols and children, of Marietta, Ga . were here last week for the funeral of Mrs. Nichols' father, J. E. Calloway. Mrs. Fred Hannah left Tues day for Washington, D. C. She plans to be away about two months. Mrs. B. H. Dixon, of Austin Texas, is the guest of Mrs. E. 8. Hunnlcutt and Mrs May Jack son R. E. McKelvey and G. J. Johnson, of Atlanta, attended the Southern Bell Telephone company conference at Grove Park Inn thia week. Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Chandler !s seriously 111 in a hospital in Toccoa, Oa. Mrs. Ellis Soper is spending several weeks at her home here.
