Friendship Train Committee Is Organized For This County Ministers of Franklin, a group of laymen, and farm leaders met recently with the Rev. Wayne McLean, of Greensboro, to form a commltte to raise Macon County's contribution o he Friendship Train. The Christian Rural Overseas Program, an organization made up of all church denominations and heads of farm organisa tions has sponsored the "Friend ship Train" idea. The purpose of this move ment, it was explained, U to accumulate farm products, raw materials, staples, canned foods, or money from any persons who desire to help the unfor tunate victims of the war In Europe. Mr. Ledford, son of James and Mrs. Martha Carpenter Ledford, lived here until about 20 years ago. A retired car penter, he had made his home at Valdese for the past 17 years. Survivors Include his widow, Mrs. Harriett Elizabeth Patton Ledford, formerly of this county; three brothers. Miller, Marlon, and Lester Ledford, all of Prentiss; four sLsters, Mrs. R. D. Brendle, of Franklin, Route 4, and Mrs. Bessie Mc Connell, Mrs. B. E. Shope, and Mrs. Mary 8tockton, all of Pren tiss; 10 daughters; 40 grand children, and 22 great-grand children. Among those attending the the Rev. Hoyt Evans were chosen co-chairmen of the Macon County Friendship com' mittee.
