sion's authorization, the West
ern Carolina firm may issue and
sell 1,406 additional shares of
common Stock, exactly doubling
the presei t total, at not less
than $50 par value. The present
46 stockholders, most of whom
li.ve in North Carolina ard
Georgia, will be given the first
opportunity to buy the new
stock, it was said, each st ck
holder being permitted to b y
as much additional stock as he
?now holds. The stock will te
available to them on and after
January 1.
The Southern Bell company
is one of the stockholders, but
holds less than a majority of
the stock, it was said.

lin school district since his elec
tion In April, 1947. He had held
the same position from 1939 to
1942, having resigned the latter
year to enter the armed force<:.
Mrs. Finley, who teaches in
the Franklin school, and ths
Flnley's daughter will remain
in Franklin, at least until the
end of the school year.

The board of directors of the
Farmers Federation, in a meet
ing last Wednesday, declared
the thirtieth consecutive semi
annual dividend on common
and preferred stock, payable

nounced that the Federation
hatchery will begin operations
immediately for next year's
baby chick program.
