NEWS ? PEOPLE MRS. EMORY HUNNICUTT Society Editor, Telephone 211 MISS WINNIFRED ANN ORB BRIDE OF FRANKLIN MAN Miss Wtnmlfred Ann Orr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coy Orr, of Bendersoftville, became the bride df Alex J. Moore, Jir., of Washington, D. C., son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Moore, of Frank lin, in a candlelight ceremony at the Beulah Baptist church, Hendersoffvllle, at 6 p. in., Jan uan 15. The Jtev. J, E. Blythe, pastor, officiate^ T ' TfciS 'dburth was decorated' with white gladioli and native evergreens and two seven branched candelabra. A program of wedding music was presented. The bride, who was given in marriage by her cousin, A. W. Drake, Jr., of Asheville, wore an Ivory satin gown, made with fitted bodice, long sleeves, and full skirt. Her fingertip veil was attached to a crown of seed pearls, and she rarrled a bou quet of white carnations and sweet peas. Miss Sarah Janes was maid of honor, and Miss Evelyn Patterson bridesmaid. Earl Nel son was Mr. Moore's best mail, and Bill Arringtan was grooms man. Mrs. Moore is a graduate of Flat Rock High school and at tended Gardner- Webb Junior college, at Boiling Springs. Mr. Moore, who is a graduate of the Franklin High school and of Mars Hill Junior college, ser ved for more than three years during World War 2 in the Paci fic theatre as an ensign in the naval air corps. Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained at an informal reception. Mr. and Mrs. Moore will make their home in Washington. MRS. DALTON HONORED . ON HER 70TH BIRTHDAY The home of the Rev. and Mrs. C. C. Welch was the scene of a birthday party honoring Mrs. John Dalton, Wednesday of last week. The occasion mark- 1 ed Mrs. Dal ton 's seventieth | birthday. Mrs. Dalton Is the oldest? and is said to be one of the most active? members of the Oowee Home Demonstration club. Thirty guests were present, all of whom brought gifts to the I honoree, and other gifts were received from friends unable to be present. At the conclusion of a pleas ant social hour, refreshments were served. MISS LAURA B. BRENDLE WEBS CHAS. E. DONALDSON Mrs. Will Brendle had an nounced the marriage of her daughter, Miss Laura Belle Brendle, to Charles H. Donald son, of Prentiss. The wedding took place at Clayton, Ga., January 5, Justice of the Peace, J. C. Greene of ficiating. Mrs. Donaldson, the daughter | of Mrs. Eva Brendle, of the Iotla community, asd of the late Will Brendle, attended the i Franklin High school. For the past several years she has made her home with Mrs. Logan Al I len in Franklin. ' Mr. Donaldson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Donaldson. ! The couple are making their home at Prentiss. Personal Mention Mrs. R. G. Ray, who recently underwent an operation at An gel hospital. Is reported to be improving. Frank Martin, Mr. and Mrs. George B. Perkins, Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones, Miss Laura M. Jones, Miss Lillian Jones, Miss Edith Piemmons, and Mrs. Weimar Jones attended the Indianapolis Symphony orchestra concert in Asheville Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ban Of Firework# Reflected In Drop In Number Injured Injuries caused by fireworks in North Carolina have decreas ed sharply since the 1941 gen eral assembly banned the sale and manufacture Df fireworks in this state, according to re suls of a survey made by the Hospital Oare association. Dur ing the Christmas seaaon of 1948, the survey showed, physi cians treated 106 patients in lured by firecrackers of fire works, while two years before the figure was 751.
