The Rev Charles E Parker, pastor, officiated, using the ring ceremony, in the pres ence of relatives and a few close friends. The church was decorated ( with an arrangement of pink and white mountain laurel, while three-branched candel- j abra held tapers which were lighted by M/Sgt. K. R. Helton, of Clemson, S. C? brother-in- j law of the bridegroom. A program of wedding music was presented by the pianist, Mrs. K. R. Helton, sister of the bridegroom, who played "Schu bert's Serenade", and Evening Star." Miss Nora Moody sang "O Promise Me" and "I Love You Truly." .The traditional wedding marches were used and ' To a Wild Rose" was rendered softly during the ceremony. The couple entered the church together. The bride wore an aqua afternoon dress of alpaca sheer, with white suede gloves. j and a brides hat of white im ported lace. Her corsage was of pink carnations tied with pink and white ribbon. Carl Evans, of Prentiss, now in the army, sta tioned at Fort Bragg, in a cere mony performed May 31, in Clayton, Ga. R. C. Green,' ordi nary, officiated. The bride was attired in a suit of turquoise blue, with which she wore white acces sories. Her shoulder corsage was of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Evans, daughter of Mrs. Potts and of the late Mr. Potts, has been employed as nurse at the Angel clinic for the past year. S. Sgt. Evans is the son of Mrs. Mae Evans and the late Charlie Evans, of the Prentiss section of Macon county. He has served in the armed forces for the past 19 months, includ- j ing duty in England, France and Germany. of Mrs. Mayford Joslin, of Knox ville, is a graduate of Evarts High school, Evarts, Ky., and attended the Knoxville School of Beauty Culture. She was for mally employed by the Tennes see Eastman corporation at Oak Ridge. Mr. Ledford, who received his education at. the Franklin High school, recently was discharged from the armed forces, after 41 months in service. He will re turn to his former position with the Nantahala Power and Light company hpre. After a short wedding trip through Western North Caro lina and South Carolina, the couple will reside in Franklin. MISS FRANCES WALDROOP I WEDS CHARLES WALKER Miss Frances Waldroop. of Franklin. Route 1, and Murphy, became the bride of CharitJ Walker in a ceremony on Sun day afternoon. May 12, at 4 o'clock at the home of Mr. ahd Mrs. Wade Reece, in Andrews, uncle and aunt of the bride. The vows were spoken be fore the fireplacfe in the living room, which was banked with mountain greenery, floor bas kets of white gladioli, white iris, and seven-branched can delabra holding white candles. White roses were used as furth er decorations. The Rev. C. C. Washam, pas tor of the Andrews Methodist church, officiated, using the double ring ? ceremony. The bride descended the stairway to the strains of the bridal chorus from "Lohengrin and was met by the bridegroom. Miss Willie McKinney served as maid of honor, while Wil liam Walker acted as best man to his brother. The bride was attired in a white silk suit with black ac cessories. Her corsage was of white roses and gardenias. Miss McKinney wore a two piece suit of black and white checked tafetta and her cor sage was of red roses. following tne ceremony, an informal reception was ^leld. The table was overlaid with an imported cut-work linen cloth and centered with a three tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and bride groom. White candles and white roses completed the table deco rations. Mr. and Mrs. Walker left on a short wedding trip, after which they will be at home at Andrews. Mrs. Walker received her edu cation in the Franklin schools and is a graduate of Asheville Beauty academy, and has been in charge of Candler's Beauty shop in Murphy for the past seven years. Mr. Walker received his edu cation in Andrews school and attended North Carolina State college. Raleigh, and Emory uni versity, Atlanta, Ga. He spent 44 months in the armed forces and was held as a German pris oner for nine months. Mrs. Walker is a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waldroop, of Franklin, Route 1, and a granddaughter of Mrs. Josie Waldroop, also of Frank lin, Route 1. Personal Mention Dwight Wilson, who is em ployed in Raleigh, is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Wilson, at their home in East Franklin. Mrs. Thad D. Bryson and two sons, of Bryson City, were vis itors in Franklin Friday of the last week. Fred W. Williams and family, . of Norfolk, Va., are visiting rel atives and friends in the Culla 1 saja community. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gibson, of ! Brevard, spent the week-fend ! with Mr. Gibson's parents, Mr. j and Mrs. Walter Gibson, at their home, Franklin, Route 3. Mr. Gibson is county agent in Transylvania county having been employed in that capacity since his discharge from the armed forces. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bradley and family, of Claremont, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Troy Bradley and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. C j Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. A. F Cook, and Verlin Bradley, all of Winston-Salem, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. J. E Bradley, at their home, Frank lin, Route 3. This is the first time in several years that Mr j and Mrs. Bradley have had all 1 their children, with their fam | ilies, at home at one time. Miss Catherine Long, who has been teaching at Kannapolis has returned to her home ir Franklin to be with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Long Major and Mrs. William Nev ille Sloan, Jr., arrived Sunday for a week's visit with Majoi Sloan's brother and sister-in j law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob S. Sloan | and other relatives. Major Sloan is the son of W. N. Sloan, ol Atlanta and Franklin, who also is spending this week here Major Sloan, who served over seas, has just been graduated from the army's command and general staff school at Fori Leavenworth, Kans. From Frank lin, he will go to Baltimore, his new station. C. J. Mooney's mother, Mrs I Rebecca Hicks, and his sister Mrs. Frank Gentry, with hei ; husband and their three chil dren, all of Erwin, Tenn., paid a visit to Mr. and Mrs. Mooney last week, during Mr. Mooney's illness. A, Jones, Jr., and infant daughter, of St. Petersburg, Fla., arrived Monday for a few days' visit with Mr. Jones' parents. Mr. and Mrs. Gilmer A. Jones. President Carl S. dlagle, of the Franklin Rotary club, and ( Mrs. Slagle left last Saturday for Atlantic City, N. J., to at , tend the annual convention of Rotary International.
