EMORY HUNNICUTT Society Editor, Telephone 211 DESSERT BRIDGE HELD BY 2 AT BRYANT HOME Mrs. Kenneth Bryant and Mrs. William Horsley entertained with dessert bridge Friday eve ning at the home of Mrs. Bry ant on Harrison avenue. Seven tables of bridge were in play. Prizes were awarded to Miss Carolyn Long, high score; Mrs. Woodrow Reeves, second high; Miss Lillian Jones, first low score; Mrs. William Swan, sec ond low; Mrs. J. L. West, first Bingo; and tc Mrs. Betty Alex ander, second Bingo. MISS DALTON IS BRIDE OF HARLEY CARPENTER, JR. Mr. and Mrs. Lon Dalton have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Mildred Janet Dalton, to Harley Carpenter, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Carpenter, of Otto. The ceremony was performed by J. C. Green, justice of the peace, at Clayton, Ga., June 10 at 7 p. m. The bride wore a white gab ardine suit with which she used white accessories. Her cor sage was of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Carpenter is a graduate of the Franklin High school, class of 1949. Mr. Carpenter, also a gradu ate of the Franklin High school, served three and a half years with the army in the Pacific. He is employed by the Western Carolina Telephone company. For the present, Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter are making their home with the bride's parents. MISS MARY WILL HENSON WEDS LEWIS CANSLER Miss Mary Will Henson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Henson, of Gneiss, was mar ried to Lewis Cansler, son of Zeb Cansler and of the late Mrs. Cansler, May 10, at Clay ton, Ga. The bride was attired in a blue crepe dress and used white accessories. Her flowers were white rosebuds. The bride and groom are graduates of Franklin High school. MUSIC CLUB MEET HELD WITH MARGARET ALLISON The Fwmklin Junior Music club held Its June meeting with Margaret Allison last Saturday afternom, with if5 members and six guests present. The program consisted of the numbers to be played on next Monday evening's recital by piano pupils of Mrs. Weimar Jones, the club counselor. Re ports were made by the dele gates who attended the annual state convention, held in Ashe ville last month. , Two of the guests, Margaret and Betty Bullock, played for the club, Betty playing her own composition. NEW WESLEYAN GUILD OFFICERS INSTALLED The new officers of the Wes leyan Service Guild of the Franklin Methodist church were installed by Mrs. Florence S. Sherrill at last Thursday eve ning's meeting, held at the home of Mrs. Bob S. Sloan. At the meeting, the members also agreed to seek to increase their Contributions to missions this year by one-third. It was announced that the next meet ing, the club's annual picnic, will be held at Arrowood Glade. Mrs. F. H. Calloway, the re tiring president, expressed ap preciation to the guild mem bers for their cooperation. Among the new officers In stalled were Mrs. Esther ^ Cun ningham, president; Mrs. E. G.
