NEWS ? PEOPLE MRS. EMORY HUNNICCTT Society Editor, Telephone 211 Miss Carolyn Corry Bride Of John Cogan Miss Carolyn Corry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Corry, of Tifton, Ga., became the bride of John Cogan, of Long Island, N. Y. and Franklin, in a cere mony at Mary Branan Memorial church, Atlanta, Ga., July 3. The Rev. Earl Strickland, pastor of the chui'ch.r officiated. Mrs. N. G. Baggett, vocalist, and Mrs. Sara McDonough, pianist, presented a program of wedding music. The church was decorated with bowls of mixed white flow ers and greenery. The bride was given in mar riage by her father. She wore a ballet length white marquisette gown fashioned with an off shoulder neckline and a wide lace bertha. Her shoulder length illusion veil was attach ed to a bride's coronet of shir red marquisette and she car ried a prayer book topped with orchids and showered with white satin streamers. -.Miss Eva Miller, of Concord, classmate of the bride, was ? ihaid of honor. She wore an T aqua taffeta dress with navy accessories and carried a bou - quet of pink roses. John Gaffney, of Henderson ville, served as best man. Ush ers were Newton Suddath, cous in of the bride, of Atlanta, and Rafe Teague, of Franklin. Mrs. Cogan received her B. S. in home economics from Queen's college, Charlotte, and was em ployed as assistant home agent in Mecklenburg county prior to coming to Franklin as home agent. Mr. Cogan, son of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Cogan, of Wash-, ington, N. J., is connected with the Van Raalte company. Following a short honeymoon in the mountains of Virginia and North Carolina, the couple will reside In Franklin. Out-of-town guests attending the wedding included Miss Virginia Corry, of Tlfton, Oa.; Mr. and Mrs. Rafe Teague and Max Parrlsh, of Franklin; Miss Eve Miller, of Concord; and Mr. and Mrs. John Gaffney, of Hendersonville. MISS SARAH AMMONS WEDS HARRY A. BEALE Miss Sarah Angleen Amnions, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex D. Ammons, of Ellljay, and Harry A. Beale, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Beale, of Highlands and Fairfax, Va., were married Saturday in Clayton, Oa. J. C. Oreen, justice of the peace, per formed the ceremony. They were accompanied to Clayton by the bride's sister, Miss Nannie Ammons, and Bobby Calloway, of Highlands. Mr. Beale attended Highlands High school and is now em ployed in Fairfax, Va., where the couple plan to make their home. CHRISTENING RITE HELD FOR NEVILLE SLOAN, III Approximately 20 relatives and close friends attended the christening of William Neville Sloan, III, infant son of Major and Mrs. W. N. Sloan, Jr., Sun day afternoon at St. Agnes Episcopal church. The Rev. A. Rufus Morgan, the rector, offi ciated. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sloan and W. W. Sloan serve as god-par ents of the child. Following the christening, a tea was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob S. Slcan and W. N. Sloan, Sr. Personal Mention The Rev. and Mrs. Hoyt Evans left Wednesday morning for Telford, Penna., to visit Mrs. Evans' family. Her sister and brother-in-law plan to sail July 15 (or overseas mlfoton work, and Mr. and Mrs. tvanS chos$ this time for their vlslt so as to s$e them before they leave the United States. The Evanses plan to be away about 10 days. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reece and sons, J. D. and Eddy, returned heme last Friday from a trip through the West. While away, they visited Mr. and Mrs. Heece's son, Johnny, and family, at Bil lings, Mont. Misses N^ariann Sherrill and Mary Anne Killlan, of the Franklin Methodist Church, and Miss Georgia Nell McDonald, of the Bethel Methodist Church, are attending the Methodist senior assembly at Lake Juna luska this week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Dun can have as their guests Mr. Duncan's brothers, John and Fred Duncan, and the latter's daughter and son, all of Dayton, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. George Johns ton, of Decatur, Ga., are here as guests of Mr. Johnston's mother, Mr*. T. J. Johnston. , Tom and BUI Hunnjcutt, sons .of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hunnl cutt, fire visiting their aunt, Mrs. Arthur Weeks, in Pitts burgh, Penna. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Biddle had as their ?hests over the week end Miss Katherine White and e. B. Scott, of Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. Erwln Deal and four children, of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. W. E. Deal, of Rocky Mount, were guests of Mrs. T. J. Johnston last week end. Miss Lucy Slagle, of Atlanta, and Miss Amanda Slagle spent the week-end at their home on Cartoojgechaye. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pattilio and daughters, of Murphy, spent the week-end with relatives here. Mrs. A. C. Gibbs is visiting her daughter at Elkins.
