W Porter last Friday and Satur day. Don Allison, assistant county farm agent, is on a two weeks' tour of du'y at officers train ing camp, Fort Bragg. Mr. Alli son holds a captain's commis sion in the army reserve. Mrs. William J. Allen, of Nashville, Tenn., sister of Ed and Tom McNish, has returned home after spending two weeks at the McNish home, Wayah Valley Ranch. Dr. William G. Moore, pastor of the First Baptist church at Sumter, S. C., was the dinner guest here yesterday of the Rev. and Mrs. W. N. Cook. Mrs. E. M. McNish and son, Tom, left Tuesday to spend 10 days with her sister, Mrs. Tom Browning at Wilmington. J. Frank Ray, of Washington D. C., formerly of Franklin, was here this week on vacation. Junior Music Club Tc Elect Officers At Meeting Saturday The annual election of offic ers will feature Saturday's meet ing of the Franklin Junior Mu sic club. The meeting will be held at the home of Margaret Mitchell Crawford, and is set for 3 :30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Since officers are to be elect ed at this meeting, Mrs. Weimar Jones, club counselor, pointed out, it is important that every member be present. Ellijay J. I. Youngs Observe 55th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Young, of Sllijay, observed their 55th wed ding anniversary Tuesday. The Youngs, who have nine children, 22 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, were both reared in this section, and have spent most of their lives in this county. Mr. Young has been in ill health for the past four years, but Mrs. Young remarks that she has had a doctor only twice in her life at the births of the first and ' last of her nine chil dren. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Moore, Sr., and daughters, of Gastonla, have been spending some time at their summer cabin on Elli jay, and visiting Mrs. Moore's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rogers. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Waldroop and children, C. L. and Sandra, of Gastonia, visited Mrs. Wal drcop's brothers, Fred and Lest er Mincey, of Ellijay, recently. Sgt. Ben Moffitt, who is sta tioned near Portsmouth, Va., spent the first week of August with his wife and children on Ellijay, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moffitt, of Franklin, Route 3. Mrs. Leonard Evitt and chil dren have returned to their home in -Gastonla after spend ing several days with Mrs. Evitt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rogers, of Ellijay. Mr. and Mrs. John C. Henry ahd daughter, Linda Diane, of Macon, Ga., recently made a short visit to Mr. Henry's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hen ry, of Ellijay. Howard Mincey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mincey, of Elli jay, Spent the past week visit ing relatives in Gastonla. "Aunt Carrie" Henry, of Elli jay, is visiting her son, Joe, of near Franklin. Billie Bishop, young son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bishop, of Ellijay, is reported to be im proving. He recently underwent an operation at St. Joseph's hospital in Asheville for a bone condition, and later was moved to the Asheville Orthopedic home, where he was placed in a cast. The twin daughters, Lou and Sue, of Mr. and Mrs. Will Cog dll, of Willets, have been vis iting their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Adams, of Elli jay.
