In opening the discussion, Mr.
Parris emphasized that the
poultrymen, in planning their
program, should anticipate four
problems: Over-production; in
efficient production; diseases;
and marketing.
Mr. Parris also stressed the
importance of the poultrymen's
producting hatching eggs that
wfll grow the type of chicken
the market demands.
Dr. Dearstyne discussed poul
try diseases, and Mr. Fourie
talked on blood testing and the
requirements in regard to vac
cination.

is written by a school boy or
girl. In addition to the first
prize, a $10 prize will be given
for the best article written by
a school girl, and a prize of
$10 for the best article written
by a school boy.
"The following rules will be
observed:
"X. Any school boy or girl of
Macon County is eligible to en
ter the contest.
"2. The subject must be some
era, event, institution, building
or person of historic interest to
Macon County. Biographies of
people who are iuw living will
not be accepted. There are no
restrictions as to the length of
the article.
"3. The source of all informa
tion must be given. It is best to
give this at the end of the
article. If statements made are
based upon rumor, this must be
pointed out and the origin of
the rumor must be given as ac
curately as possible.
"4. All entries must be type
written and mailed to Miss Ce
cile Gibson, Secretary of Macon
County Historical Society, not
later than December 1, 1949. The
awards will be made at 8 o'clock
p. m. on December 19, 1949.

opened Thursday morning of
last week at the Ridgecrest
Baptist church and continued

largest attendances in the his
tory of the association. An esti
mated 700 attended the first
day's sessions.
Worship services, reports, ad
dresses, and special music, in
addition to the transaction of
business, featured the associa
tion's four sessions.
The annual doctrinal sermon
was delivered Thursday morn
ing by Mr. Nix, and the Rev.
C. E. Parker preached the mis
sionary sermon Friday morning.
The association voted to ac
cept the invitation of the
Sugarfork church for next year's
session, to be held August 10
and 11.
