Aged 77
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary
McMahan Wilkerson, 77, who
died at her home in the Nanta
hala community October 13, fol
'owing an illness of three weeks,
were held at the Union Hill
Baptist church Saturday after
noon at 2 o'clock.
The Rev. Carl Denny offi
ciated, and burial was in the
Camp Branch cemetery.
Mrs. Wilkerson was born
April 26, 1874, the daughter of
S. L. and Mrs. Mary McMahan.
She was a llfg-long resident
resident of Macon county and
a member of the Brlartown
Baptist church. In 1920 she was
married to James Wilkerson,
who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her ?
husband, are four brothers,

Judd Bradley
Formerly Of This County,
Dies In California
Word has been received here ;
of the death of Judd Bradley, 1
74, formerly of Macon County,
who had made his home In
California for the past 27 years.
Mr. Bradley died Monday in
Pomona Valley, Calif., after an ;
illness of one month. Services
were held Wednesday at the
Todd Memorial Chapel, Clare
mont,, California, It has been
learned.
He was born in Macon county,
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion
Bradley. After moving to Cali
fornia, he was engaged in the
orange growing business and
was active in church affairs.
He was twice married. His
first wife was Miss Lillie Byrd,
of Stiles, and his second wife
was Miss Ollie BreecUove, also
of Macon County, who survive*.
Surviving, in addition to his
widow, are two daughters, Mrs.
John Irwin, of San Francisco,
Calif., and Mrs. Bill Manguson,
of Denver, Colo.; one grandson,
Eric Manguson; three brothers,
Claude and Fred Bradley, of
Claremont, Calif., and Everett,
qf Franklin; and four sisters,
Mrs, John Shuier, Mrs. D. A.
Hall, and Mrs. Frank Browning,
all of Franklin, and Mrs. Harley
Breedlove, of Bryson City.
The family here, gathered at
the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Fiank Browning, at the hour of
the funeral.
Crusade Will

The Crusade for Freedom
campaign, which was scheduled
to end Saturday, has been ex
tended to Tuesday, October 24,
it was announced yesterday by
Henry W. Cabe, Macon County
director.
The Crusade was launched
nationally \qh Monday, Septem
ber 4, with a radio address by
General Dwight Eisenhower, but
did not get under way in Ma
con County until October 1,
Now, because of the campaign's
growing momentum throughout
the state and nation, the clos
ing date has been postponed
until next Tuesday,

resented in a home room, at the
climax of the P. T. A. member
ship drive, October 1-14.

Again Sylva moved downfleld
when the Jackson county boys

ping. The Panthers knuckled
down and broke up two passes

then took over on a kick.
The Panther touchdown march
came with two minutes left In
the game. Shields plowed his
way for 35 yards in twa trys,
and Bo Norton hit for 10.
Shields picked up two more,
Archer racked 23 yards In two
trys, Shields smashed for seven
in two carries, and Archer hit
the center of the Sylva line for
the touchdown, and then booted
