Corbin Accepts Position
At Ohio State University
Furman Corbin, Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. Furman Corbin, of
Bryson City, formerly of Frank
lin, has accepted a graduate as
sistantship position with the
chemistry department at Ohio
State university, Columbus, Ohio,
it has been learned here.
A graduate of Lincoln Memor
ial university, Mr. Corbin will
go to O. S. U. in the fall, where
he plans to work toward his
master's degree in chemistry.

The State Highway commis
sion completed 1.8 miles qf sur
facing in Macon County under
the $200,000,000 bond issue pro
gram during May, it has been
announced.
Grading, draining, and sur
facing with traffic-bound mac
adatn were finished on the fol
lowing:
Richie road, .8 mile; Norton
Branch, .7; Niblic road, .3.
The Commission has finished
one-half of Governor Scott's:
requested 12,000-mile paving !
goal under the secondary bond
issue program. Some 6,036 miles
of farm-to-market roads have
been hard-surfaced and anoth
er 9,825 miles stabilized for all
weather travel during the past
two years.
