Henson, of Otto, has accepted a posi tion as an associate with the law offices of W<;lch Jordan and Luke Wright in Greensboro, it has been learned here. Mr. Henson was graduated from the University of North Carolina law school in June and passed the bar in March. While at the university he was a member of Phi Bata Kappa, national scholastic fraternity, and was selected by the law school faculty as a member of the North Carolina Law Review, membership in which is based on scholastic ability and judg ment of the faculty. He is a veteran of three and one-half years service with the navy during World War II. In 1949 he was married to Miss Evelyn Small of Lancaster, S. C. Mrs. Proffitt Accepts Secretarial Position In McSwain's Office Mrs. Wayne Proffitt has ac cepted a secretarial position in the office of Holland McSwain, county superintendent of schools. Fitzhugh Ashe Dies In Utah Accident On 35th Birthday Word has been received here of the death of Fitzhugh L. Ashe, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Mr. Ashe, who was the grand son of Mr. Le? Barnard, Sr., of Franklin, was killed in an automobile accident in Utah Wednesday of last week ? on his 35th birthday. The son of Mrs. Claude Sevier, of RidgefieSd, Wash., formerly Miss Beeler Barnard, of Frank lin, Mr. Ashe often has visited he e, having been in Frankl n the tyst time while he was in service, during World War 2. An employe of the Western Wax Paper company, Mr. Ashe was well known in golfing cir cles in Portland, Ore., where he made his home until he moved to Salt Lake City last year. Survivors include his -widow and two small children, Karlyn Christ.'ne and Mindy Lee. Funeral services were held Monday in Portland. old Miir Will Be Razed, No Letup On Cleanup, Mayor Says A "clean face" for Franklin moved closer to being this week with the announcement by Mayor Robert M. Dillard that the old home of the Franklin Feed Mill would be razed soon. The old mill, located at the foot of Town hill, will be razed by Roy Carpenter, the mayor said. In making the announcement, Mr. Dillard said future plans for an over-all cleanup of the town includes clearing a number of lots, leveling of the Baptist lot on West Main street, and washing town streets. Projects recently completed under the cleanup program: (1) Clearing the lot at the in tersection of N. C. 28 and Main street (2) mowing the Indian mound. (3) Cutting weeds along sidewalks of Main street. (4) hauling away rubbish where the Dills' Recapping establishment burned last winter. (5) Scrap ing oil deposits from parking spaces in downtown Franklin. "We don't intend to let up with our cleanup campaign," Mr. Dillard said, "until the town outshines all others." Mr. Smith discussed his trapping experiences in the Hudson Bay country. He was invited to return tonight for a second talk on the subject.
