week announced for the berte
llt of local stamp collectors that
the post office department will
Issue a 3-cent stamp through
the Detroit, Mich, post office
July 24, to commemorate the
2S0th anniversary of the land
ing of Antolne de la Mothe
Cadillac at Detroit.
Stamp collectors desiring
first-day cancellations of this
stamp may send a limited num
ber of addressed envelopes, not
In excess of 10, to the post
master, Detroit, Mich., with
money-order remittance to cov
er the cost of the stamps to be
affixed, Mr. Long said.
More than 300 minerals are
found In North Carolina.

were married Saturday after
noon at 5:30 o'clock in tha
Franklin Baptist church.

double ring ceremony.
The altar of the church was
decorated with Oregon fern,
floor baskets of white gladiolus,
and lighted cathedral tapers.
A program of wedding music
was given by Mrs. Henry W.
Cabs, organist, and Richard
Sloan, vocalist.
The bride was given in mar
riage by her father. She wore
a ballerina length dress of
chantilly lace and nylon net
over satin, fashioned with an
appliqued off-the-shoulder neck
line. Her fingertip veil of French
illusion was attached to a tiara
of seed pearls. She carried a
white Bible topped with a white
orchid, showered with white
satin streamers holding small
white flowers.
Miss Helen Wilson was maid
of honor. She ^Vas attired in a
ballerina length dress of baby
blue organza over matching taf
feta, fashioned with strapless
bodice and matching stole. Her
headdress and mitts were of the
same material and she carried
a nosegay of mixed flowers.
Miss Pegsy Yount, of Hickory,
and Miss Bobbie Brewer, of
Roseboro, served as bridesmaids.
Their dresses and flowers were
identical to that of the maid
of honor.
Robert Tallon, of Charleston,
S. C., served as best man. Ush
ers were William Hunnicutt, of
Belmont, and Frank Dorsey, of
Forest City.
The mother of the bride wore
a dress of navy blue crepe with
navy and pink accessories. Her
flowers wece white rosebuds.
The mother of the bridegroom
wore a dress of navy blue r'eie
and lace with navy and white
accessories. Her corsage was al
so of white rosebuds.
Following the ceremony, Mr
and Mrs. Moore le! t by mo'n'
on a wedding trio through th
Shenandoah Valley and to Vir
ginia beach. Mrs. Moore wore a
suit of cocoa brown silk shan
tung with green and teige ac
cessories.
Upon their return they v.'ll
reside in Marshville where Mr.
Moore will teach at the Marsh
ville High school and Mrs.
Moore at the new Salem school.
Mrs. Moore is a graduate ol
Franklin High school, Mars Hill
college, and Meredith college in
Raleigh.
Mr. Moore is a graduate of
Rutherfordton High school and
of Western Carolina Teache/s :
