OCTOBER
ODDJTIES
It's been a month of oddities
tar Maconites thus far! Here's I
just a few things that have
happened over the county:
Item: Turner Hall found a
wasp's nest in the Patton Set
tlement that double-crossed its
builders. Most of the Insects re
siding at the nest were firmly
glued to its outside in a sticky
substance that came from Inside
the nest.
Item: Cliff Cook, of Franklin,
and Gordon Barnes, of Frank
lin, Route 4, dropped by The
Pi ess office with a clam, which
they said they found at the
dam on the Little Tennessee.
Item: One little twig with 12
Stark's delicious apples on it
was found by Weaver Gibson, o 1
Franklin, Route 4.
Item: Harold Ramey, Frank
lin Press pressman, was mak
ing some repairs on the press
last week and dropped his
screwdriver under the machine.
Fumbling in the half -dark to
retrieve it, he came upon a
snake. The little 10-lnch wig
gler, non-poisonious variety,
now is getting a picture of the
operation of the newspaper
from inside a bottle home.
