Cane' Drive
Raises $303
The Franklin Lions club rais
ed $303.94 In Its annual White
Cane drive lor the blind, Lake
V. Shope, chairman of the
blind committee, announced this
week.
One-third of the funds raised
by the, local club will be spent
(for blind work In Macon Coun
ty, the chairman said, and the
remaining two-thirds will be
turned over to the North Caro
lina Association for the Blind.
In a whirlwind one-night
campaign October 8, Lions can
vassed the residential sections
of Franklin and collected $224
of the total amount. The bal
ance was donated by Franklin
merchants and businessmen,
Mr. Shope said.
"We are more than pleased
with the cooperation we got in
the drive',' the chairman said,
"and we consider the campaign
highly -successful."

clubs in the state.

Plans lor a Hallowe'en car
nival October 27 at Cartooge
chaye school were announced
this week.
The event is being sponso-ed
by the school parent-teacher as
