Highlands Highlights' MBS a G. STORY MISS SARAH H. HALL WEDS PARIS RUSSELL PAXTON Miss Sarah Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tudor N. Hall, and Paris Russell Paxton, of the U. 8. Marine Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Paxton, of Palm Beach, Pla., were married In a candlelight ceremony at 5 p. m. December 29 at the home of the bride's parents. The Rev. R. B. DuPree was the officiating min ister. The 'vows were spoken before a background of white pine boughs, white gladioli and snap dragons In fan-shaped arrange ment, flanked with five-branch ed candelabra holding lighted tapers. Mrs. R. B. DuPree pre sented a program of organ mus ic, using the traditional wed ding marches. Walter A. Paxton, Jr., was his brother's best man, and Over ton Chambers, II, was usher. The matron of honor and bridesmaid were Mrs. Overton Chambers, n, sister of the bride, and Mrs. John R. Thomas, ] sister of the bridegroom. They | wore identical ballerina-length full skirted dressej of aqua marine brocade and carried yel low roses. . . The bride wore a ballerina - length dress of net and lace in champagne color, made with bouffant skirt. She wore a matching cloche and carried a bouquet of brandywlne roses centered with an orchid. Following the ceremony a small reception was held. Mrs. Eliot Caziarc served at the cake table, and Mrs. A. L Chalker, Mrs. Edward Potts and Mrs. Tom Harbison poured punch. Miss Peggy Potts kept the bride's book. The mother of the bride wore an Alice 'blue dress with orchid cofsage, and the mother of the bridegroom wore an aquamarine lace dress with orchid corsage. Mrs. E. R. Gilbert, the bride's grandmother, wore mauve crepe with gardenias, and Mrs. John S. Fletcher of Ocala, Fla., grand mother of the bridegroom, ware seafoam green crepe with gar denias. Out-of-town guests were Mrs. W. A. Paxton, Palm Beach, Mrs. I John S. Fletcher, Ocala, Fla., Gerald Walker, Winter Park, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Jack M. Hall I and daughter, Miss Joanna Hall, Atlanta, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parker, Rock Hill, 8. C., and the Rev. and Mrs. R. B. DuPree. Following a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Paxton will be at home at Camp LeJeune. Miss Peggy Potts entertained the Hall-Paxton bridal party with a buffet supper Friday night following the rehearsal. Miss Lula Smith presided at the coffee service and Mrs. Oveirton i Chambers, II, assisted the hos tess In entertaining. On Saturday night following the departure of the bride and i groom, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Potts entertained the younger members of the Hall-Paxton i wedding guests with a late waf- 1 fie supper at their home on i Fifth street. MISS JANE LINN HENLEY WEDS K. B. ZAHNER, JR. Miss Jane Linn Henley, daugh ter of Capt. Courtney Henley, was married to Kenyon Bene dict Zahner, Jr., of Highlands and Fort Sill, Okla., in a cere mony at 4:30 o'clock on the afternoon of December 26 at the First Presbyterian church, Birmingham, Ala., with Dr. Ed ward V. Ramage officiating. The church was decorated with white lilies and chrysan themums, interspersed with green smilax and banked with palms and ferns. White tapers burned in candelahra. Wedding music was presented by the church organist and Miss Kelr Henley, vocalist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length dress of white Chantilly lace over satin. The lace bodice of her dress, jacketed In lace, was caught to a bouffant tulle skirt. Her shoulder length veil was attached to a Juliet cap fringed with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley and white Phale anopsis orchids, centered with a Cattleya orchid. The bride's sister, Miss Keir Henley was maid of honor. Robert Zahner, III, of Dur ham, was his brother's best man, and ushers were Cadet C. E. Nlblack, Jr., of the U. 13. Mil itary academy, West Point, N. Y., Dr. Lamar Agar, and John C. C. Mr. and Mrs. Nichols have gone to Detroit, where they will make their future home. MRS. POTTS HOSTESS TO TUESDAY CARD CLUB Mrs. Frank H. Potts enter tained the Tuesday Card club last week with a dessert bridge. The dessert was served at the Highlander cafe, and the three table game was played at the Potts house. Mrs. O. F. SchifTli and Mrs. J. M. Valentine were club guests. The high score guest prize went to Mrs. Valentine. Mrs. John H. C. Perry won high score club prize, and Mrs. E. R. Gilbert the Bingo prize. Mrs. C. Mr. and Mrs. Potts also had as their New Year's guest Mr. Potts' sister, Miss Jessie Potts, of Woman's college, Uni bride. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Kenyon Benedict Zahner, wore a dress of two-tiered imported black lace and flesh-pink net, attached to a bodice of mar quisette. Her matching hat was trimmed with roses. A reception was held at the bride's home. After a wedding trip to New Orleans, Mr. and Mrs. Zahner will be at home at Fort Sill. He attended the University of Florida, and in 1946 was graduated from the Bowman Oray school of medicine of Wake Forest college. He interned at the North Carolina Baptist hos pital In pathology and holds a diploma from the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hy giene, London, England. Follow ing his two years with the army of occupation In Japan In virus research, Dr. Satterwhlte held a six months' residency at North Carolina Tuberculosis Sanator ium. He has completed a one year Internship in internal med icine and a six-months residen cy In internal medicine at North Carolina Baptist hospital, Wln ston-Salem. In 1944, Dr. Satterwhlte was married to Miss Altha Smith, registered nurse, of Stanley, N. C. They have two sons, aged five and three. The family will occupy the W. H. Cobb cottage on Satulah road.
