Heffner To Be Here To Assist Taxpayers Ray W. Heffner, deputy col lector for the state internal revenue department, plans to be at the Macon courthouse February 26 and 27 to assist taxpayers in filing state tax returns, it has been announced. This is a free service, it was pointed out. Mr. Heffner will conduct his business in the court room from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. each day. Quilliams Awarded Good Conduct Medal Cpl. William E. Quilliams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur O. Quil liams, of Franklin, Route 1, .re cently was awarded the good conduct medal while serving with the army in Augsburg, Germany, according to an army announcement. Cpl. Quilliams has been con nected with the 7815 Station Complement unit in Augsburg since January, 1949, where he is serving as a refrigerator re pairman with the quartermaster section, the announcement stat ed. He entered the armed forces in September, 1948, receiving basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C BRYSON NAMED I MICA PRODUCTS FIRM OFFICIAL Is Maitland's Successor In Post; Corporation Plan Expansion Thad D. Bryson, Jr., of Franklin and Bryson City, was elected to succeed John B. Mait land as secretary-treasurer of the Mica Products corporation here at a stockholders' meet- 1 ing February 12. Mr. Maitland submitted his resignation at the session at the meeting. Mr. Maitland has re turned to Oil City, Pa., to en gage in the practice of law, corporation officers, said. He has been secretary-treasurer of the concern since its chartering in June, 1947. R. G. Lichtenstein, corpora tion president, said Monday the mica concern expects to expand operations as a "custom plant", and will be in full-time produc tion at an early date. Clark, Serving In Korea, Given Corporal Rating Kenneth Clark, sop of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Clark, of Frank lin, Star Route, recently was promoted to corporal while serv ing with an engineer construc tion battalion in Korea, it has been learned here, Cpl.
