AMMONS HONORS SON Mrs. Owen Ammons honored her son, Reggan Ammons, on his sixth birthday with a party at her home on Route 4 Sat urday afternoon. Games were played and the birthday cake was cut and serv ed with ice cream. Thirty guests attended. WOMAN'S CLUB HOLDS ANNIVERSARY BANQUET A banquet celebrating the second anniversary of the Franklin Junior Woman's club was held last Thursday evening at Kelly's Tea room. The evening's program in cluded piano selections by Miss Laura Lyle and Miss Wilma Renshaw, a recitation by Miss Margaret Jones, and inperson ations by Bill Zickgraf. Miss Doris Dalrymple was in charge of the program. The Halloween theme was used in decorating. Miss Kate Jacobs was chairman of the decorations committee. MRS. Te:c., following a visit with .Mrs. Laura Balrd and ROTARY CLUB MARKS 25TH ANNIVERSARY Past District Governor Is Speaker; Some 100 Attend Approximately 100 persons ? Rotarlans, their Rotary Anns, and guests ? were present as the Franklin Rotary club celebrat ed its silver anniversary Wed nesday evening of last week at the Slagle Memorial building. The decorations, the wrap pings, the ladies' favors, and even the food emphasized that this was a silver anniversary, while the Rotary colors of blue and gold also were to be found everywhere. For the occasion, the club had Dr. C. Sylvester Green as guest speaker. Dr. Green, a one-time Rotary district governor, is ex ecutive vice-president of the Medical Foundation of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He spoke on the genius, the energies, and the vision of Rotary. Following the dinner, the club's huge birthday cake was brought in, and past presidents of the club were called upon to light the candles on it. The tinsel-wrapped "supprise" pack ages prepared by Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Gnuse, Jr., at each place, then were opened. Each con: tained a miniature birthday cake, surmounted by a tiny candle. All the candles then were lit, and the electric lights turned out. The invocation was a song Dy Mrs. Clarence Henry, accom panied by Mrs. H. W. Cabe. W W. Sloan read a history of the club, citing amusing as well as significant developments in the quarter-century life of the or ganization . J. S. Andrews, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry V. Andrews, of Barton, Md., at 4:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Highlands MRS. FREELAND ANDREWS i^First Presbyterian church. The | j double ring ceremony was per- | formed by the Rev. Robert M. ; Hart, pastor. The church was decorated with yellow chrysanthemums i against a background of moun tain greenery and a foreground j of autumn leaves. Seven i branched candelabra held light | ed yellow tapers. The pews were j j marked with lighted candles, j ! and small chrysanthemums tied j with bows of yellow satin rib j bon. Autumn leaves and lighted ! Sealey, of Hampton, Va., cousin of the bride, sang "At Dawning", "Still As The Night, and "The Lord's Prayer" as a benediction. Frank V. Andrews, of Barton, Md., was his brother's best man. Ushers were James N. Hunt E.nd Sidney L. McCarty, III. The bride was given in mar riage by her brother, Thomas R. Hunt, Jr. She wore a bailer - ina-length dress of Chantilly lace and nylon net over satin, fashioned with fitted bodice and yoke of illusion. Her fingertip veil was caught to a coronet of satin and seed pearls. She car ried a white prayer-book topped with an orchid and satin streamers Her only ornament was a pearl necklace. Mrs. Sidney McCarty, Jr., aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a ballerina length dress of champagne-col ored satin, with fitted bodice, net yoke and matching jacket. Her Queen Victoria hat was of brown velvet and she car ried a bouquet of bronze and yellow chrysanthemums. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney L. Mc Carty, Jr. Out-of-town guests included Mrs. Ray Mitchell, of Washing ton, D. C., Mr. and Mrs. Harry V. Andrews, Frank Andrews, Joe Andrews, and Mr. and Mrs. Oris McCormick, of Barton, Md. After a southern wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Andrews will be at home at 1819 G Street, W.. Washington, D. C. For traveling the bride wore a smoke blue fall suit trimmed with pearl buttons, matching acces sories. aha the orchid from her bridal bouquet.
