QUICK WARM UP i i r Anti-Stalling is another big reason Esso Extra performs best in 9 out of 10 cars all year 'round Stalling in cool, damp weather is caused by carburetor icing. You don't have to put up with this annoyance. For starting power that gets your engine going at a touch and keeps it going, try Anti-Stalling Esso Extra . . . the only gasoline that effectively combats cold engine stalling. It's another big extra for your money in Eeso Extra ? the premium gasoline long famous for quick starting, fast warm up, high anti-knock power, and long mile age! No wonder more motorists buy Esso Extra than any other premium gasoline in the area served by Esso Dealers. Don't stall another day? try a tankful right away ? enjoy Happy Motoring I While you're at your Esso Dealer's there's certainly no better time to let him give your car a complete lubrication and care ful check-up for the cold weather driving you'll be doing. _ Detroit's Automotive Engineers say that cold-engine stalling has been a persistent problem for years. Under certain conditions, powerful gasolines required for today's high-compression engines evaporate and freeze moisture out of the air, "icing up" the carbure tor and causing temporary stalling. This stalling is practically eliminated by the new Esso Extra Gasoline. (No gasoline, of course, can correct stall ing caused by mechanical faults or electrical failure.) ?sso] \ "? # ? The best solution appears to be in eliminating such an nual weeds as bitterweed, garlic and other forms of onions, by the development and use of bet ter pastures and crops, accord ing to L. W. Aurand, of the de partment of animal industry at N. C. State college. Mr. Aurand also notes that such feeds as clover, lucerne, cabbages, etc. also give char acteristic flavors to milk when fed just before milking. Several months for the removal of off flavors have been studied but none give promise of providing a general solution to the off flavor problem. He says that the development of crops and pastures that will effectively compete with the Coy deceased, late of Macon County, N. Burley Tobacco Growers Here Will Vote On Quota Question; Some 174 Eligible To Ballot Approximately 174 burley to bacco growers In Macon County are eligible to vote in the ref erendum on burley tobacco marketing quotas on November 22, according to J. H. Enloe, Jr., chairman of the county Produc tion Management committee. t The referendum is being held to determine, in accordance with the law, whether growers want quotas for three years; whether they want quotas for weeds and prevent their at- 1 j taining significant proportions seems to be the ultimate solu tion to off-flavors in milk. Weed off-flavors occur chief j ly in the winter and early ! spring. On many farms, either j as a result of drought or over j stocking or both, there is little , grass of any sort, and weeds provide the only feed. As a re i suit, according to Mr. Aurand. weed ingestion and the result , ing off-flavor are quite com- 1 mon. He notes recent claims to the effect that feeding certain min- J eral supplements would prevent ; off-flavors in milk. Some of these products have been stud- ; | ied and results show that none ! j of the supplements tested pre- I i vented the occurrence of off- 1 ! flavors. i ? the 1953 crop; or whether they do not want quotas. Marketing quotas will continue in effect if two-thirds or more of the growers voting in the referendum cast favorable bal lots. The purpose of the marketing quotas is to provide growers with a method, of adjusting sup ply to demand and to help them obtain fair prices for the tobac co they produce. County Chairman En!oe said anyone who has an interest in the 1952 crop of burley tobacco, either owner, tenant, or share cropper, is entitled to one vote on the question of marketing quotas. Each person concerned, however, is entitled to only one vote even though he may be engaged in the production of ou: ley in iwo or more commun ities, he explained. Acreage allotments will be continued in lf'5'i if marketing quotas a,-e approved, he said, and notices with specific farm acreage allotments for 1933 will be sent to farm operators be fore the date of the referendum. Mr. Enloe added that price support loans at SO per cent of parity will be provided for 1953 crop tobacco if the quotas are approved. is made Special for you! io-~ c?Y+* ? p THI VALUAM.I COUPON ON MKT MC CAM HO# W UVR MOMCY ON MOUSCHOtD ITtMS WHN to t? ??
