Several Foods Now Plentiful The winter cabbage crop is an estimated 15 per cent larger than last year and retail sup plies of cabbage are now plen tiful in the Southeast, accord ing to Mrs. Florence S. Sherrill, county home demonstration agent. Although cabbage leads the U. S. Department of Agricul ture's plentiful foods list for February, Mrs. Sherrill said re tail shoppers should also find ample supplies of fresh carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and celery at their local grocery stores at this season. Best fruit buys are orange and grapefruit products, both fresh and processed; in addi tion markets are well supplied with dried figs, raisins, almonds, filberts, and walnuts. Other foods on the plentiful foods list now include peanut butter, frozen fish, eggs, dry baby lima and pea beans, heavy turkeys, dairy products, and edible fats and oils. Two hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail, longest hik ing trail in America, wind along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. Gospol of Christ _ Rom l : 16; 1 Cor. 9:18; SCor. 4:4 59^^ Subject : "Wrong Direction*" The following story was told by a man who was traveling westward by train .during winter. "The train had two engines plowing along. There was a woman, with a little baby in her arms, who wanted to leave the train at a certain small station where the train was stopped If one came from a long dis tance. The brakeman came In and called the name of the station when we were getting near. The woman said, "Don't forget me," and he replied, "Sure." There was a man there who said, "Lady, I will see that the brakeman doesnt forget you ? don't worry." A while later he said, "Here's your station." She quickly left the train? into the storm. . . . The train had gone on about an hour when the brakeman came in and said. "Where's that woman?" The traveling man said, "She got off." The brakeman replied, "Then she's gone to her death; we only stopped the train yonder because there was something wrong with the engine." They called for volunteers and went back and looked for her. They searched for hours and finally found her out on the prairie, covered with a shroud of ice and snow woven about her by the pitiless storm, and with the little babe held closely to her breast." The foregoing story vividly illustrates the fact that one can follow the wrong directions; and, at the same time, have an absolutely clear conscience. She followed the man's directions, but they WERE WRONG. She followed the wrong directions and they led to her death and the death of her little one. Prov. 14-12; Matt. 15:14. In religion, one can likewise follow the wrong directions and eternal death will be the result. Please, friends, let's look into the right directions and follow them. Right Directions These briefly but correctly point the way to salvation from past sins and to eternal rest in heaven: Read carefully and prayerfully the references. 1. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 16:30-34; John 3:18; 8:24. 2. Repent of your sins. Acts 2:37-42; Luke 13:1-5. 3. Confess Jesus as God's Son. Rom. 10:8-10; Acts 2:37. 4. Be baptized for (unto) remission of sins. Acts 2:38. To have your sins washed away. Acts 22:16. To get "into Christ" Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:1-6. Thus we are born again of water and the Spirit. John 3.3,5. Now, after becoming Christians, it is our duty to practice the additions of 2 Peter 1:1-11 and "run with patience the race that is set before us." Heb. 12:1,2. Having received the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; 5:32), it is now ours to manifest the "fruit of the Spirit." Gal. 5:22-26; Rom. 8:9-11. In general, read Acts on how to come to Christ and the Epistles for Instruction in Christian living. Tell Toanelf the Answer Dear Reader: There are two classes of people in the world ? the righteous and the wicked. You belong to one of these two great classes. WHICH? There are two great rulers in the world ? God and Satan. You are serving under one of them. WHICH? There are two roads which lead through time to eternity? the broad and the narrow. You are walking in one of these roads. WHICH? There are two ways of beginning the day? with prayer or without it. You begin the day in one of these two ways WHICH? There are two deaths which people die? some "die in the Lord," others "die in their sins." You will die one of these two deaths. WHICH? Do not follow wrong directions, friend. You have the Bible, the Way to Life. Read it for yourself; don't gullibly swallow all that the preacher says about it. Have a mind of your own and obey "from the heart" what God has taught in His Word. Rom. 6:16-18. Consider these words. They will make you wise unto salvation. They will save your soul. Come, worship with the church you read about in the New Testa ment. We will do you good. Let us hear from you if you have compliment or criticism of these lessons.
