APRIL ROAD WORK LISTED Slate Highway Finishes 1.1 Miles In Macon During Month During April, the State High way Commission completed 1.1 miles of surfacing in Macon County, the 10th division has reported. , Two roads graded, drained, and surfaced with trafficbound macadam were Dills and Allen Road, for 0.3 mile, and Bates Branch Road for 0.3 mile. St. John Church Road, for 0.2 mile, Rickman Creek Road, for 0.1 mile, and Feisty Branch Road, 0.2, were stabilized and their existing surfaces strength ened with trafficbound mac adam. A total of 5.4 miles of road work was brought to completion in the division during the month, the announcement said. HOME FROM JAPAN Sgt. David Hughes, husband of Mrs. David Hughes, of Gneiss, arrived by plane at Fort Benning, Ga., May 8, returning from 12 months' duty in Japan. He spent the week-end with his wife at Gneiss and then report ed back to Fort Benning to await discharge. Various committees have been appointed. Members of the ways and means committee are T. W. Stiles, chairman, Mrs. Freeman Hasting, and Mrs. Lester South ard. The program committee consists of Mrs. John Cunning ham, chairman, Mrs. Eugene Couch, and Mrs. Ted G.ribble. The erection of uniform mail boxes is well under way and plans for community signs were discussed at a called meeting May 11.
