MENDENHALL (County Agent) Wayne Franklin, county agent of Haywood, plans to hold a lamb pool at Clyde on Satur day, June 20, beginning at 7 a. m. No ewe lambs will be accept ed and all ram lambs must be docked and castrated. It Is ex pected that top lambs will bring between 26 to 28 cents with a 4 cent break between each grade. Lambs should weigh be tween 85 and 100 pounds. Mr. Franklin said Macon farmers can participate in.this pool pro viding he knows ' in time how many lambs to expect so he will know what size car to order. Any one wishing to sell in this pool should notify the county agent's office in Frank lin immediately so the number of lambs from this county can be given Mr. Franklin. Also, It is planned to hold another pool early in August to catch the late lambs. Wood Returns To Duty After Leave At Home William L. Wood, SN, who has been serving on Navy LST 902 in Japanese and Korean waters for the past 11 months, left Tuesday for San Diego, Calif., after spending a 20-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wood, of Cullasaja. After entering service in Oc tober, 1950, he received his boot training at San Diego and served at Monterey, Calif., prior to going to Japan in August, 1952. RITA FERGUSON (Community Reporter) Residents and visitors to the Holly Springs community en joyed a supper Wednesday night of last week before the regular meeting. There were 102 present and the meeting opened with the introduction of guests by Wal ter Taylor, president. S. W. Mendenhall, county agent, reported on the recent meeting of the rural contest county council and outlined their plans for the year. J. Fred Rryson, county fire warden and president of the Carson community, talked on forest fires and showed two movies, one a comedy, the oth er dealing with the prevention of forest fires. Following the meeting, the president called council mem bers into session and elected Mrs. Charles Ferguson com munity reporter and Mrs Sam Winkleblack secretary-treasurer.
